Acer announced on July 19 that the Predator G1-710-70001, a limited edition gaming desktop, is now available to pre-order from Acer directly or from Newegg for $2,300. The company also introduced a new promotion that hands out a free copy of Tom Clancy’s The Division for PC (DVD), and a wheeled carrying case, to customers who purchase this specific limited edition desktop starting now.
For starters, the limited edition Predator G1 desktop sports a sixth-generation Intel Core i7-6700 quad-core processor (3.4GHz base, 4.2GHz turbo), 32GB of dual channel DDR4 system memory clocked at 2,133MHz (64GB max via four slots), and Nvidia’s flagship video card, the GeForce GTX 1080. Backing this combo storage-wise is a 512GB SSD, a 2TB hard drive spinning at 7,200RPM, and an 8x DVD burner.
“The new Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card is blazing fast, super cool, incredibly efficient and whisper quiet, delivering unprecedented performance and power efficiency,” the company said. “Based on Nvidia’s new Pascal architecture, the card delivers up to three times the performance of previous-generation graphics cards, taking gaming and next gen virtual reality experiences to an entirely new level.”
As for other bells and whistles in this limited edition gaming rig, the front packs an SD card reader supporting up to 128GB of storage, one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 port, one regular USB 3.0 port, and jacks for headphones and a microphone. On the back, you’ll find four more USB 3.0 ports, a gigabit Ethernet port, 7.1 channel audio output, three DisplayPort jacks, one HDMI port, one DVI port, and two DC-in jacks.
In addition to the Ethernet port, other connectivity features in this desktop include built-in Wireless AC networking and Bluetooth 4.1 LE. The audio aspect is handled by Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi MB5 that supports 7.1 channel audio. And if you plan on expanding this system at a later date, it includes an open PCIe x16 slot, one M.2 slot for an SSD, one M.2 slot for networking, and a drive bay for a 2.5-inch HDD or SSD.
Overall, the new gaming desktop measures 16.46(H) x 4.33(W) x 13.70(D) inches and weighs 17.64 pounds. It runs Windows 10, has a 460-watt power supply, and comes with a 2-year limited warranty on parts and labor. The bundled G1 Desktop Transport Suitcase is branded with the Predator logo, the perfect accessory for lugging this desktop around from one tournament to the next.
In addition to the desktop, Acer is throwing two peripherals into the special limited edition bundle — the Predator Flare mechanical gaming keyboard and the Predator gaming mouse. The installed Killer DoubleShot Pro software will handle all the high priority gaming traffic passed over a wireless or wired connection, whereas Acer’s PredatorSense software will control the desktop’s colored lighting, enable hotkey setup, and keep tabs on the overall vitals.
Acer first revealed its Predator G1 gaming desktop lineup during a special press event in New York City back in April. At the time, the company said it would support video cards up to a GeForce GTX Titan X, but the website now lists Nvidia’s new high-end $700 GTX 1080 card instead. The mid-sized desktops were slated to arrive in June with a starting price of $600, but the Predator website, and Acer’s own online store, have yet to list Predator G1 models.
That said, the new limited edition Predator G1-710-70001 gaming desktop is the very first model in the lineup, and can be pre-ordered now by heading to Newegg here and to Acer’s website here. Acer told Digital Trends that additional non-limited edition models will arrive once this one sells out. The free game and wheeled carrying case will not be offered with other Predator G1 models.
