Zombies in Spaceland is the latest iteration of the hugely popular cooperative mode that was introduced in 2008’s World at War. Once again, players will be tasked with killing off increasingly challenging waves of enemies, working together with up to three friends to create defenses, upgrade weapons, and return the undead to their graves.
The twist here is that rather than a German bunker or a Siberian outpost, players will have to resist the zombie horde in a space-themed amusement park. The mode’s four protagonists are all based on archetypes from the 1980s; a jock, a nerd, a valley girls, and a rapper.
The game’s voice cast is headlined by Seth Green and Jay Pharoah, who are joined by Sasheer Zamata of Saturday Night Live and Ike Barinholtz, who recently played a prison guard in Suicide Squad. Eighties icons Paul Reubens and David Hasselhoff are also set to appear in supporting roles.
“Zombies in Spaceland is an all-new zombies experience where day-glow meets fright nights,” said project director Brian Bright. “It’s accessible for new players, but also has a deep layer of progression, brimming with Easter eggs and various game features that will be a blast for hardcore zombies fans.”
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is set to launch across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 4. A special package of in-game items themed around the zombies mode, as well as a reimagined version of the Terminal multiplayer map are being offered as pre-order bonuses.
