That’s right — it’s not rose gold, though it looks an awfully lot like it. Samsung’s color variant for its flagship S7 and S7 Edge has been dubbed pink gold to distinguish itself from the rose gold trend. The color for the S7 pair isn’t new — the company announced the pink gold option back in April, except it was only available in select markets such as South Korea.
“Pink gold was chosen as it, like the other colors available for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, is a natural color that provides a sense of comfort,” the company wrote in a blog post back in April. “These hues glitter and shimmer as if illuminated from inside their glass surfaces. In particular, the refined pink gold color scheme is intended to soothe and incorporate a touch of gentleness, radiance and sophistication to the smartphones’ design.”
The color option is now available in the United States, if you fancy the need for a touch of gentleness and sophistication, but you’ll have to head over to Best Buy. The retailer has exclusive access to the color, and you’ll get a $150 Best Buy gift card if you purchase and activate a pink gold S7 or S7 Edge.
It’s unclear if the new Galaxy Note 7 will get the same pink gold treatment, but you’re now able to choose from black, gold, white, silver, and pink gold for the S7 and S7 Edge. Samsung also offered an Olympic Games edition of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge exclusively through Best Buy, but the device was only available in limited quantities and cost an expensive $850.
The S7 costs $670, while its Edge variant is priced at $770.
