Rose gold is so 2015: Samsung’s pink gold Galaxy S7, S7 Edge are now available

Rose gold may have been around a lot longer than the Apple Watch, but no one’s denying that it was the iPhone-maker that began the spread of the pink-hued color upon a multitude of consumer gadgets. Now, Apple’s Korean counterpart is following suit with a “pink gold” Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

That’s right — it’s not rose gold, though it looks an awfully lot like it. Samsung’s color variant for its flagship S7 and S7 Edge has been dubbed pink gold to distinguish itself from the rose gold trend. The color for the S7 pair isn’t new — the company announced the pink gold option back in April, except it was only available in select markets such as South Korea.

“Pink gold was chosen as it, like the other colors available for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, is a natural color that provides a sense of comfort,” the company wrote in a blog post back in April. “These hues glitter and shimmer as if illuminated from inside their glass surfaces. In particular, the refined pink gold color scheme is intended to soothe and incorporate a touch of gentleness, radiance and sophistication to the smartphones’ design.”

The color option is now available in the United States, if you fancy the need for a touch of gentleness and sophistication, but you’ll have to head over to Best Buy. The retailer has exclusive access to the color, and you’ll get a $150 Best Buy gift card if you purchase and activate a pink gold S7 or S7 Edge.

It’s unclear if the new Galaxy Note 7 will get the same pink gold treatment, but you’re now able to choose from black, gold, white, silver, and pink gold for the S7 and S7 Edge. Samsung also offered an Olympic Games edition of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge exclusively through Best Buy, but the device was only available in limited quantities and cost an expensive $850.

The S7 costs $670, while its Edge variant is priced at $770.

While the Galaxy S24 is Samsung's latest and greatest phone, it’s a mostly iterative upgrade from the Galaxy S23. If you want to save money, you may have been thinking about purchasing a Galaxy S23 instead. Now, you can save even more because Samsung is adding the Galaxy S23 series to its Certified Re-Newed program.

With Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed program, Samsung extends the usable life of its most popular devices by refurbishing them. Phones sold through the Certified Re-Newed program undergo extensive testing, use genuine parts, and are assembled by Samsung engineers.

Digital render of a silver Realme GT Neo 6 SE held in bionic hand.

The global Android phone market is expansive beyond comprehension, and brands continually jockey to establish supremacy. Today, it's Realme's turn to lead one such race as it has unveiled the brightest smartphone display that has ever been launched to the general public.

Realme, a spinoff of the Chinese phone brand Oppo (which also birthed OnePlus), announced the GT Neo 6 SE earlier today in China. The phone boasts an impressive juxtaposition of internal hardware, but one that instantly stands tall is the new display. The Realme GT Neo 6 SE features a 6.78-inch OLED display with a spectacular 6,000 nits of brightness -- brighter than the displays on any other phone or consumer device with a screen built into it.
