Big and proud, LG’s G Pad 2 10.1-inch Android tablet doesn’t pretend to be the slimmest slate on the market. Instead, this 10.1-inch slate boasts a massive 7,400mAh battery, which LG claims is the largest battery you’ll find in similarly sized tablets. Currently, Staples is offering the LG G Pad 2 10.1-inch Android Tablet for $220, a savings of $110.
Design-wise, the G Pad 2 sports a smooth, metallic body and measures just 7.8 mm thick. It weighs 17.4 oz, which makes it heavier than Apple’s 9.7-inch iPad Pro, but lighter than its 12.9-inch counterpart.
In terms of hardware, LG’s tablet marries a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.26GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a MicroSD card slot. The 10.1-inch display packs a 1,920 by 1,200 pixel resolution, and rear and front-facing cameras of 5 megapixels and 2 megapixels round out the tablet’s main specs.
However, it’s the hearty 7,400mAh battery and unique software suite that makes the G Pad 2 a solid option if you value productivity.
As we noted earlier, the tablet includes QuickMemo+, an app that lets you write notes on the screen at anytime regardless of what other app may be running. There’s also a Dual Window multi-tasking mode, which splits the tablet’s screen in two for enhanced productivity. Meanwhile, a Reader mode reduces blue light output from the tablet’s screen to provide a more comfortable reading experience.
The tablet also comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Office for Android Tablet, making this an ideal business tablet for an office setting. Naturally, there’s also built-in Bluetooth 4.1 and all the major flavors of WiFi.
The G Pad 2 comes with Android Lollipop pre-installed, but users should take note that it’s not upgrade-able beyond 5.1.1.
