We may finally find out what the NX will look like early next month.

According to the Wall Street Journal, analysts predict that Nintendo will unveil the NX gaming system in early October.

With Nintendo’s current console, the Wii U, nearing its final stages, Nintendo is poised to give some more concrete details about the NX. Set to launch in March, rumors about what the console will offer have been rampant. It is currently believed to be a console/handheld hybrid. It’s rumored to have almost as much power as the current PlayStation 4, which some gamers may find disappointing. Since it’s apparently being built to be used on the go, battery life is expected to be a key issue. It will be powered by Nvidia’s next line of Tegra chips, the X2. The Tegra chips have traditionally been used for mobile devices, only adding to the swirl of handheld rumors. It’s also rumored that the NX will be region-free, something that Nintendo has never done with its previous systems.

Nintendo has seen a wave of consumer excitement and positive press this summer. First it launched Pokémon Go, a mobile game that allowed players to catch Pokémon in the real world. It quickly became a global phenomenon, with mobs of people running after monsters. Shinzo Abe, prime minister of Japan, then dressed up as Mario during the Rio Olympics closing ceremony to hype the 2020 games in Tokyo. Then on Wednesday, Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, walked onstage during the iPhone 7 press event to unveil Super Mario Run. With this string of announcements, Nintendo has seen its stocks jump up 13 percent since Wednesday.

Ubisoft confirms Assassin’s Creed remakes are in the works
Basim perched on a ledge overlooking Baghdad

In a company interview with CEO Yves Guillemot posted on the Ubisoft website Thursday, the executive reveals that there are remakes of Assassin's Creed games in the works, although he doesn't specify which ones.

"Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them," he says, implying that it could pertain to games made before Odyssey. "There are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich."

Surfaced patent shows what an Xbox streaming console would’ve looked like
An Xbox Series X sits next to both Series S models.

There have been a few Xbox devices that have never come to fruition, one of which was Keystone, a prototype for an affordable game streaming device you could hook up to your TV or monitor. Thanks to a surfaced patent, we've gotten an even closer look at what it would've potentially looked like.

The patent, first spotted by Windows Central, gives us a more complete view of the device. We've previously seen the Keystone in the flesh. Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer is known for hiding teases and interesting collectibles on the shelf in his office. In a 2022 X (formerly Twitter) post congratulating Bethesda on Fallout's 25th anniversary, you can see a small white device on the top shelf that's actually a Keystone prototype. Xbox told Digital Trends that it was a version of the device made before it decided to "refocus our efforts on a new approach.”
