These 'Destiny: Rise of Iron' guns will keep you entertained

Destiny‘s writing has been endlessly derided over its two-year lifespan, but that mockery ignores one crucial aspect: the game’s brilliant gun names. Destiny‘s upper-tier “exotic” weapons not withstanding, the game’s weaponry has — without fail — been exquisitely monikered. The new guns in this week’s release, Rise of Iron, are no exception.

Many players who log in to Rise of Iron for the first time this week will want to check out these new guns, most of which are available through the game’s many vendors, before they do anything else. Thankfully, they won’t be disappointed. It's that spooky time of the year, and what better way to celebrate than with some limited-time events in every Guardian's favorite game? As is the tradition at this point, Destiny 2 is embracing the holiday season with a limited-time event with exclusive themed rewards around the Halloween holiday. The entire tower will be getting a spooky makeover, but the really exciting part is, of course, the special event and rewards you can earn.

Called the Festival of the Lost, this event is technically still part of the current Season of Plunder but is available for all players for free, regardless of what expansions they have or have not purchased. While Bungie hasn't fully outlined all the specifics of how Festival of the Lost will work, there have been some details shared, plus a couple of leaks, to sink our teeth into. Destiny 2 is here, kicking off a new chapter of Activision's wildly popular shared-world shooter. A lot has happened in the universe of Destiny since the original game launched, including expansions, large and small, which add to the story, and countless tweaks to the form and function of the game's fundamental elements. So much has happened, in fact, that a reminder might be in order for anyone wondering what's going on in Destiny these days.

The latest expansion, The Witch Queen, is actually the twelfth chapter in the Destiny saga, depending on how you count. Developer Bungie released Destiny in September 2014, followed by four major expansions: The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King, and Rise of Iron. Destiny 2 kicked off the series' second arc a few years back and has already seen a few expansions to progress the storyline even further.
