Apple’s 2016 MacBook Pro models with the new Touch Bar OLED input display that replaces old-school function keys has been a resounding sales success so far. The new machine has outsold many notebooks in only its first few weeks of availability, and supply is only starting to catch up with the significant demand.

In fact, it was only a few days ago that Apple started prepping machines for shipment, and just yesterday that some early buyers reported receiving their new MacBook Pros. Now, it appears that some Apple Stores actually have stock on hand of the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, although availability is sketchy, as MacRumors reports.

One of the first people to walk into their local Apple Store and pick up a new MacBook Pro was in La Brea, California. The information comes via Reddit where other Apple Stores are popping up with the machines in stock. Those are almost exclusively located in California, specifically the cities of Rancho Cucamonga, Fairview, Emeryville, and Walnut Creek. One lucky Reddit poster did report picking up a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar from the Soho Apple Store in New York City, and a MacRumors reader reported one purchased in New Jersey.

Although those lucky few seem to indicate a very small number of Apple Stores with stock today, things could change considerably tomorrow — many people have reported that they’ve been told that machines will be available. That’s not a ubiquitous situation, however, as a number of people have also apparently been told not to expect machines before Thanksgiving.

If your local Apple Store won’t have stock of the machines, you’ll at least be able to get your hands on a demo model. Apple Stores should have those to take a look at this week. If you’re looking to walk into an Apple Store and get your new 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, you’ll need to stop by an Apple Store or give one a call to see if they have any units in stock, because Apple is not providing the usual in-store pickup option for online orders.

The new iPad Pro would be perfect, if only it were a Mac
A person gaming on the M4 iPad Pro and playing Diablo Immortal.

It’s no secret that I’ve been cheering on Apple’s gaming advances over the last year or so. Long-suffering Mac gamers have gone from being the forgotten also-rans of Apple’s ecosystem to feeling on top of the world, all in a very short period of time. But there’s one vital piece missing from the puzzle, and Apple’s new M4 iPad Pros have made it incredibly obvious.

I’ll admit, Mac gamers have been treated well in recent times. Not only have we had phenomenal hardware advancements in the form of the M3 Max chip -- which is a genuine gaming chip so cool and quiet that you’d be fooled into thinking it’s not -- but there’s also been a slate of top-tier games arriving on Apple’s platform, including my beloved Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s a good time to be a Mac gamer.

Here’s why M4 MacBooks were a no-show — and when they’re coming

Apple has just released a new iPad Pro with a shocking surprise -- it includes the M4 chip rather than making the more standard upgrade to the M3. It's the first time we've seen an iPad debut the latest M-series Apple Silicon rather than a Mac, which may leave us Mac fans wondering what's going on.

So, what's the deal? Don't worry -- M4 Macs are surely on the way, but these new iPad Pros have thrown in a wrench into the conventional timeline.

The XPS 16 is fighting an uphill battle against the MacBook Pro
Dell XPS 16 sitting on desktop with flowers.

It took a few years, but Dell finally updated the design of its two largest XPS laptops. The XPS 15 gave way to the XPS 14, while the XPS 17 was replaced by the XPS 16. The latter gained the ultramodern look of the XPS 13 Plus, complete with a glass palm rest, a hidden haptic touchpad, and a row of LED function keys.

It's a significant update but places the XPS 16 in direct competition with the Apple MacBook Pro 16. That's an excellent matchup with proven performance and battery life and an elegant design that's solid, if a lot more conservative.
