This iPhone case packs 40 high-power LEDs and integrates with the camera's flash

Concepter, the company behind the smart flashlight for your iPhone, has figured out a way to integrate its camera accessory into a case, and it’s available now on Kickstarter.

The iBlazr Case illuminates your subjects with “40 high-power LEDs” on the rear. In layman’s terms, the flash is brighter than the one embedded in your phone — that means you can capture better photos in low-light scenarios. Once you place your iPhone inside the case, the flash syncs with the native camera so it will activate when you take a photo and the flash is on.

Since it integrates with the iPhone’s camera, you can also use the flash in apps like Snapchat and Instagram.

The LEDs can also light up when you have an incoming call or text message — that’s once you pair the case to your phone via Bluetooth. The iBlazr Case also packs a 2,500mAh battery pack — meaning you’ll be able to keep your phone charged while you’re snapping away. The Ukraine-based company says the battery can last for more than 1,500 flashes and “more than 2.5 hours in a constant light on a high power mode.”

Unfortunately, since Apple issues licenses and charges fees for the Lightning port, the case has a USB Type-C port on the bottom — the same port on the MacBook Pro, as well as many Android devices. The company also says the case focuses the sound from the bottom speakers, and “both speakers are now spreading the sound in the same vertical way.”

The case also works with Concepter’s app, Shotlight, which now has new features, a new design, as well as support for iOS 10 functions like the optical zoom on the iPhone 7 Plus, wide color capture, RAW photo capture, dual camera support, and more. Using the app lets you change the brightness and color temperature of the flash, and you can also connect other iBlazr devices and control them.

The case weighs about 3.4 ounces and is made of ABS plastics with a rubber coating. It’s compatible with the iPhone 6, 6S, 6 Plus, 6S Plus, 7, and 7 Plus. It’s available for pre-order on Kickstarter from $55, and there are a wide range of options and bundles to choose from. The case is expected to ship in April.
