We love the LG G6, and like previous LG flagship phones, it looks like LG will release a smaller version, perhaps with the name LG G6 Mini. However, it may also decide to ignore previous trends and given it an entirely new name — the LG Q6 — if some rumors are accurate. Rumors began in May that LG would supplement the G6 with a “Mini” device, and it looks like an official announcement concerning the device could be on the way very soon.
Release date, name, and teasers
There is growing evidence that the LG G6, or LG Q6, will be announced on July 11. The latest comes from LG itself, and through a YouTube video teasing a July 11 announcement for a new FullVision device. If we’re “Q-rious,” says LG, we should stay tuned, further hinting that the new phone will have a Q somewhere in the name. LG has used the letter Q in previous names and features.
The video shows a curtain being drawn open, revealing a very small window behind it, and a question about needing “FullVision” appearing on the screen. The LG G6 has a highly cinematic 5.7-inch, 18:9 ratio screen with small bezels, emphasizing screen-to-body ratio. The G6 Mini/Q6 may offer the same. LG is also counting down to the phone’s launch on its Facebook page, where another similar teaser to the one above has been published.
Before this, Twitter user Grzegorz Dąbek shared an event invitation from LG for July 11 in Poland. The hashtag associated with the event is #LGBarbeQ — another Q reference.

Regular phone leaker @evleaks had something to say about the phone a week before this, too, claiming the G6 Mini would be announced as the LG Q6, and had been certified by the FCC using the model number — which isn’t the same as it’s retail name — of M700.
Specifications
Regardless of whether it will be called the LG G6 Mini or LG Q6, the rumored specs are the same, and we could be looking at a smaller and perhaps less powerful version of LG’s flagship.
So what should we expect from the phone? It appears as though LG will be keeping the 18:9 screen aspect ratio, and that the display will measure 5.4 inches. That is slightly smaller than the 5.7 inches on the original LG G6. The information was first reported by TechnoBuffalo. Additionally, the phone may receive a 13-megapixel camera and 3GB of RAM, as Ubergizmo has reported. The screen ratio, 3GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel camera was also leaked by @evleaks.
The document TechnoBuffalo originally obtained was actually dated from earlier this year, so it is possible that the phone was planned to launch alongside the standard G6, but ended up being held back.
Some unlikely rumors linked the Q6 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, making it more powerful than the original G6. The G6 did not feature the new Snapdragon 835, instead, it made use of the aging Snapdragon 821 processor because initial stock of the 835 was reserved for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8. However, a benchmark result for a phone with the model number M700 (linked to the G6 Mini/Q6 in another rumor) showed it powered by a Snapdragon 430 processor and 3GB of RAM. The benchmark, which don’t forget can be easily faked, also had the G6 Mini running Android 7.1.1
If the LG G6 Mini/LG Q6 is set to arrive on July 11, we don’t have long to wait until all the details about the phone are made official. We’ll keep you updated.
