Palm Debuts 3D Games for WebOS

3D everything is being announced today in Las Vegas as CES begins and Palm is right on the 3D bandwagon. Palm Inc. today introduced several graphic-intensive 3D games for its webOS operating system. Palm says it will be demonstrating its new game titles, all from big-name developers like Electronic Arts and Laminar Research, at its CES event. The new 3D games can be found in the Palm App Catalog.

“Recent improvements to Palm webOS represent major advancements in enabling world-class mobile gaming,” said Travis Boatman, vice president of Worldwide Studios for EA Mobile. “These innovations have allowed us to quickly bring our best IP to the platform.”

Seven 3D games were introduced today in the Palm App Catalog for Palm Pre customers:

“Need for Speed Undercover” (EA Mobile)
“The Sims 3” (EA Mobile)
“MONOPOLY” (EA Mobile)
“Asphalt 5: Elite Racing” (Gameloft)
“Let’s Golf!” (Gameloft)
“Glyder 2” (Glu Mobile)
“X-Plane” (Laminar Research)

Just a few days after rumors emerged that Samsung might be moving away from Qualcomm's ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, Qualcomm has announced a second-generation of the tech. The new sensor is called the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max, and it offers a number of upgrades over the previous-generation sensor. The company announced the tech at its annual Snapdragon Summit, which I was flown out to.

Details about the new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor are still a little scarce, but what we do know is that it will offer a recognition area that's 17 times larger than the previous-ten sensor. The result? According to Qualcomm, the new sensor allows for increased security. In fact, the extra area essentially means that you can use two-finger authentication, instead of having to stick with one.

Tired of Snapchat’s usual round of face filters? Soon, you can paint your own augmented reality Lenses using a new tool called 3D paint. Rolling out beginning October 30, 3D Paint allows Snapchat users to draw in augmented reality using the front-facing or rear-facing cameras on iOS 8 or later, with a future update bringing the tool to Android.

AT&T just made it a lot easier to upgrade your phone

Currently, AT&T has its “Next Up” add-on, which has been available for the past several years. This program costs $6 extra per month and lets you upgrade by trading in your existing phone after at least half of it is paid off. But the new Next Up Anytime option gives you some more flexibility.
