Microsoft unveiled its new Office suite program for Mac, the Mac Office 2011. The company says its new version will deliver better, more innovative tools for teamwork and co-authoring compatibility. Microsoft claims its new co-authoring tools in Office 2011 will increase productivity for you and your teammates with the ability to work on a file from Word, PowerPoint or Excel from different locations, time, geography or platform. The software focuses heavily on the social aspect—almost social networking aspect—of mass collaboration.
“Together with your team — officemates, family or classmates — you are part of the community that helps shape each version of Office for Mac,” said Eric Wilfrid, MacBU general manager at Microsoft Corp. “You’ve told us that working together across platforms is a priority to you and that’s why we are making Office for Mac 2011 the best, most compatible productivity suite on the Mac.”
Mac Office 2011 also features a revamped user interface, new Outlook for Mac support, and a bevy of Office Web applications. According to Microsoft, Mac Office 2011 will be available later this year—finally giving Mac users cross platform compatibility.
