Destiny 2: Where is Xur for the weekend of December 30

Seasoned Destiny 2 players know they can count on the elusive merchant Xur to make an appearance with special exotic items every Friday, but what’s not so clear is where you’ll be able to find him. Below, you’ll find a map with a marker that indicates where Xur is, as well as a list of his wares.

Who is Xur?

If you’re new to Destiny 2 and need a bit more information about how this works, you should know that Xur is a special vendor who sells exotic weapons and armor. Each week, he comes to the solar system with a slate of goods, including an exotic weapon and one piece of exotic armor for each character class. As of The Witch Queen, he now stocks legendary armor and weapons and sells additional exotic weapons with random rolls every week.

Where to find Xur (December 30 to January 2)

The trouble with Xur is finding him. We always know when Xur will show up — at the 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET reset each Friday. The question is where Xur will be. Previously in Destiny 2, Xur’s location was marked on the map. He’s now unmarked and harder to find each weekend. Here’s where to go to track down Xur, the Agent of the Nine, as well as everything you need to know about what he’s offering this week.

Xur is fortunately pretty easy to find this week. You can find him in the Tower over in the Hangar. Run to the right side of the map and run under the building housing Future War Cult. Head to the northern edge of the map and run up the flight of stairs there. You’ll find Xur hanging out right at the top of that first staircase, next to the next flight of stairs.

Xur’s wares for this week

Prometheus Lens — 29 Legendary Shards: If you’ve never used it, Prometheus Lens is a truly fascinating energy weapon. This exotic trace rifle fires a straight beam of solar light, which emits a damaging heat field. That heat field grows the longer the weapon is fired, making it so dangerous a force that the weapon was the subject of an infamous nerf when it was first released.

Shards of Galanor (Hunters) — 23 Legendary Shards: For Hunters who love their super, Shards of Galanor are available this week. These exotic gloves specifically buff your Blade Barrage. When you get hits and kills with that super, you’ll get super energy back after you’ve cast it allowing you to fill your meter more frequently.

Doomfang Pauldron (Titan) – 23 Legendary Shards: Doomfang Pauldron is a perfect match for Titans who rely on void abilities. When sentinel shield is active, these gauntlets recharge your shield throw when you get a melee kill. Outside of your super ability, void melee kills will grant super energy while wearing these.

Skull of Dire Ahamkara (Warlock) – 23 Legendary Shards: If Nova Bombs are your super of choice, Skull of Dire Ahamkara is a must-own exotic. This helmet grants you additional damage resistance while using your Nova Bomb, making it easier to cast successfully. Nova bomb kills will also grant you super energy, giving you a nice energy cycle.

In addition, Xur will also sell the following weapons each week as of The Witch Queen. They will have random rolls every week. Both guns cost 125,000 glimmer, 200 legendary shards, one exotic cipher, and one ascendant shard.

Hawkmoon: Hawkmoon was one of the best hand cannons in the first Destiny, and it’s still a beast in Destiny 2. When you get precision kills with this gun, you gain stacks of charges. The final shot in your clip will do more damage based on how many charges you have stored. Headshot a bunch of thralls, and your last shot will do mega-damage. You just can’t stow the weapon mid-clip or you’ll lose your stacks.

Dead Man’s Tale: Dead Man’s Tale is an exotic scout rifle with some similarities to Hawkmoon. If you chain precision hits together, you’ll cause more damage. That will also reduce your load speed, so you’ll want to keep a steady aim with this gun to get the most bang for your glimmer.

The best Warzone 2.0 perks
Characters running in Warzone 2.0.

For months after launch, Perks in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 were been broken. Even after securing your loadout, certain Perks would fail to activate, resulting in an entirely useless mechanic overall. Likewise, you weren't actually able to customize which Perks were associated with a loadout, and instead, had to utilize Perk Packages. These had preset Perks tied to each, offering very little in the way of customization.

Thankfully, Activision finally issued a patch to fix Perks and Perk Packages, allowing players to make better use of these bonus abilities.

PS Plus adds Evil Dead, OlliOlli World, and more in February
A still from Evil Dead: The Game showing a man holding a gun in a supermarket.

PlayStation Plus Essential's February game lineup was announced today, and it consists of four titles: OlliOlli World, Evil Dead: The Game, Mafia: Definitive Edition, and Destiny 2: Beyond Light. These games will be available to download starting February 7. Overall, this is a really solid batch of games.

OlliOlli World was one of my personal favorite games of 2022 because of its amazing level design and 2D skateboarding gameplay that only becomes more fun as you get better with the game. "Like the best games of the genre, it knows that easy-to-learn-but-hard-to-master mechanics, rewarding obstacles, and high speeds that test one’s reaction time are the hallmarks of a great platformer," I wrote in a four-and-a-half star review of the game last February.
