Latest ‘Fortnite’ update gives you a ton of firepower to kill Cube Monsters

Are you using an assault rifle in Fortnite: Battle Royale, but failing to make much of a dent in your opponents? With the new game’s latest update, you’ll have the firepower you need to finally claim victory, and you can try out a spooky new mode, as well.

Fortnite version 6.22 adds the “Heavy AR” weapon to the battle royale mode. The weapon is a pretty standard-looking AK-47, coming in rare, epic, and legendary versions and holding 25 rounds in its magazine. The balloons introduced in a recent update have also been altered, with their spawn rate reduced from 12.2 percent all the way down to 2.3 percent.

Despite Halloween being over, there are still plenty of spooky Cube Monsters roaming around. In the limited-time Team Terror mode, you and your team go up against 32 other players, as well as the monsters, in a fight to the death. The monsters will appear across the map and also pop up whenever the storm closes in, and they’ll drop weapons and ammo upon death. Ammo spawn rates ammo boxes, floor loot, chests, and supply drops have also been increased, so you shouldn’t have trouble blasting away every enemy you see.

The limited-time mode Blitz also comes to the game this week. It’s faster than standard battle royale, with shorter times between the circle closing in. It immediately begins moving at the start of a match, and Epic Games estimates that it will take about 15 minutes to complete a full Blitz game. The mode’s name certainly fits in line with the recent outfits added to Fortnite. The game has partnered with the NFL to debut special uniform skins beginning on November 9, with all 32 teams’ uniforms available to purchase using V-Bucks. Referees will also be available, if you’re one of those people.

If you’re still interested in the “Fortnitemares” Halloween event, you can actually continue the story in the Save the World mode and try out the Candy Corn light machine gun. Save the World still costs money to play, as of now, but Epic Games has plans to make it free-to-play in the future. We’re willing to bet that most players will continue blasting their friends in battle royale, however.

Where to find the secret cave in Fortnite

Every time Fortnite changes up the map, it becomes a whole new experience when checking out the new points of interest (POIs) and best places to land. With chapter 5 bringing some of the most dramatic changes in the map's history, a ton of secrets are out there on the island waiting to be discovered, such as a very lucrative cave. Those who have managed to wander into this hidden alcove have been rewarded with a huge stash of loot, making it a well-guarded secret among those in the know. We can't guarantee you'll survive long enough to grab all the valuables inside, but knowing where the secret cave is will at least give you and your squad a fighting chance.

I never thought the day would come where I'd call Fortnite one of the greatest horror games of all time, but here we are.

If you find yourself questioning that revelation, I completely get it. “Is he talking about the tension of Battle Royale mode? Or maybe the zombies in the Save the World playlist?” No. I straight-up mean there is a fantastic horror game inside Fortnite. There are hundreds of them, in fact, and they're all completely free. Every new chapter of Fortnite is a massive event. While seasonal changes bring plenty of minor tweaks and additions, it's almost always when a new chapter rolls around that major overhauls or new mechanics are introduced. Fortnite Chapter 4 was no exception, and aside from the extreme changes the island underwent, it brought one very important change to gameplay that makes a huge difference when going for that elusive victory royal (it isn't easy to win Fortnite, after all).

Augments, well, augment the game. There are a few challenges that somewhat introduce what these are, but they leave out almost all the important details for you to find out on your own. Augments need to be considered, and deeply understood, not only for when you get them yourself but to know what new tricks your opponents could have up their sleeves. Before you get taken by surprise, here's a complete breakdown of how to unlock augments and how they work in Fortnite.
What are augments in Fortnite?
Augments, or Reality Augments, are a new perk system introduced into Fortnite. There are currently 20 augments in the game, but there are 32 total that cycle in and out with each Season. You can get access to multiple augments during a single match, but augments do not carry over after a match is finished, whether you win or lose. These perks can range from modifying certain weapon types to granting buffs for performing actions, and much more. There are no bad augments, so you will want to get as many as possible. Augments also have their own tab in your menu where you can see which ones you've had so far to track your progress using them all.
