Animal Crossing Amiibo cards and special-edition Switch are coming back

Nintendo announced that Animal Crossing Amiibo cards and the special edition Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch are getting a restock.

Animal Crossing Amiibo cards are coming back to select retailers in November. The cards cost $6 per pack and are compatible with Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Originally introduced for Animal Crossing New Leaf and Happy Home Designer, the collectible cards feature different villagers. Like regular Amiibo, they can be scanned into Animal Crossing: New Horizons to invite villagers to your campsite and take photos of them in Photopia.

The first four series of cards will return this November and include familiar faces like Isabelle, Tom Nook, and Resetti. The restock does not include the Welcome Amiibo series of cards or the special Sanrio collaboration.

The special edition New Horizons Switch was first introduced in February and launched alongside the latest game in the series. It features pastel joy-cons and a dock featuring Tom Nook. The popular console was originally in limited supply and had its production delayed in Japan due to COVID-19.

Nintendo says that fans should check their local retailers for availability. At the moment, the console is currently available through Best Buy’s website. It was previously available at GameStop but has since sold out. Those looking to pick up one in-person can do so at Target, which currently has the system available for pickup at various locations. We will update this story as more retailers make the special-edition Switch available.

Both announcements come after Nintendo revealed its upcoming fall update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which brings Halloween-themed items and events to the game.

Hogwarts Legacy is the latest and greatest adventure in the magical Harry Potter universe. Set in the 1800s, the story focuses on a generic fifth-year student who’s tasked with taking down a brewing Goblin rebellion in-between their school duties. For Potterheads of all ages, a game that allows them to traverse the halls of Hogwarts, learn their favorite spells from the books and films, and fight enemies like dark wizards, trolls, and dragons is an absolute dream.

The game launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in February. While reviews were mixed across the board, longtime fans jumped into the wizarding world in droves — over 15 million copies of the game have been sold to date. Unfortunately, players on the top-tier consoles were the only ones who had access to the game for a while. Instead of launching on all platforms simultaneously, Hogwarts Legacy's release has been staggered.

Lego’s Animal Crossing sets are every bit as adorable as the games

Lego and Nintendo finally revealed more details on the Lego Animal Crossing collaboration first teased next week. We got a look at five distinct Lego sets that can fit together and even know when they'll hit store shelves.

Unlike the Super Mario Bros. collaboration, these are five Lego sets with an Animal Crossing theme. First, there's the 389-piece Isabelle's House Visit set ($40), which comes with Isabelle and Fauna and lets players build Fauna's house, craft tools, and pop the balloon present. The Julian's Birthday Party set has 170 pieces, costs $15, and it comes with the titular character, whom people can build a birthday party for using the pieces. There's also the $20, 164-piece Bunnie's Outdoor Activities set, which comes with its titular character, a tent, and a river that feeds into a cliff and waterfall.
Those looking for something a bit more complex might want to go for the Kapp'n's Island Boat Tour set, which costs $30, comes with 233 pieces, includes figures for Kapp'n and Marshal, and lets players build Kapp'n's boat and a tropical island setting. Finally, the most complex of these initial sets is the 535-piece Nook's Cranny & Rosies House. Priced at $75, this set comes with Toom Nook and Rosie and lets people build the series' iconic store and Rosie's house.
All of these sets are fairly distinct from each other, but the press release revealing them confirms that the sets can all be connected together, letting people build one big Lego Animal Crossing village or island. That will be possible when all of these sets hit store shelves at the same time on March 1, 2024.

Nintendo revealed that Animal Crossing will be its next franchise to get transformed into a Lego set, following sets based on Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong. This collaboration was teased Thursday morning in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Nintendo.
