Nexus One Going to Sprint

Mobile operator Sprint has announced that it will be offering the Google Nexus One will be coming to Sprint’s 3G Mobile Broadband Network…although the exact date and pricing options have not yet been revealed. Google launched the Nexus One in January with a $529 unlocked version that operated on T-Mobile’s GSM network, or a $179 subsidized version bound to T-Mobile; just yesterday, Google announced an unlocked version that operates on AT&T’s 3G network (as well as Rogers in Canada). The Sprint announcements means that versions of the Android-powered Nexus One “superphone” will be available for three of the four major U.S. wireless carriers—only Verizon Wireless is currently out of the Nexus One loop.

“Nexus One is a powerful device that belongs on a powerful network,” said Sprint VP of product development Fared Adib, in a statement. “This is another step in our continued partnership of innovation with Google.”

Although Sprint has not announced availability dates or pricing plans for the Nexus One, the company says it wants to “keep pricing simple.” One thing Sprint has been clear about: the Sprint version of the Nexus one will not be available in Sprint stores. Instead, users will go to Google’s Web-based storefront to purchase the phone.

Four months after its release, the OnePlus 12 remains one of the best smartphones you can buy in 2024. It looks great, offers incredible specifications, and has an excellent price. According to leaker Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 13 will feature two big upgrades over the OnePlus 12. The first is its screen. Unlike the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R, which both have curved displays, the OnePlus 13 will reportedly have a “straight screen.” The translation from the Chinese post on Weibo to English isn’t perfect, but it certainly sounds like the OnePlus 13 is ditching the curved screen of its predecessor in favor of a flat one.

Google is making it easier to ditch your iPhone for an Android phone

Switching phones is never a smooth process, even if you’re switching between two different Android phones. However, when you’re trying to switch from an iPhone to Android or vice versa, it can be extra complicated -- and you can lose data and apps that you rely on. This is especially the case with Apple-to-Android transfers because the iPhone has a much stronger ecosystem lock-in with things like iMessage, iCloud backups, and exclusive apps like Overcast and Hyperlapse.

The good news is that with its Data Transfer Tool (also called Pixel Migrate on Pixel devices), Google may be trying to mitigate some of the phone-switching problems that arise -- specifically, losing access to your Live Photos. According to an APK teardown from Android Authority, Google’s Data Transfer Tool will finally resolve the problem of migrating iOS Live Photos to Android. It will do this by converting them over as Motion Photos.
