Dell Debuts Affordable UltraSharp LCD Displays

Computer maker Dell has always garnered praise for many of its LCD displays, and now the company is looking to incrementally add to that success with the introduction of its new UltraSharp UU2211H and UltraSharp U2311H flat panel displays. Pitching the displays at “knowledge workers” and “photography buffs,” the monitors feature wide viewing angles and consistent color presentation, plus a host of connectivity options and price tags sure to earn them a few adoring fans.

“These new Dell displays are ideal for knowledge workers such as financial analysts, programmers, and photography enthusiasts,” said Dell’s general manager for displays and peripherals Steve Gluskoter, in a statement. “They will all appreciate the crisp and high quality images, the connectivity and features designed for comfort and the response time of 8ms which ensures that fast-moving multimedia content is displayed accurately.”

The displays feature DisplayPort, DVI-D, and VGA connectors along with a four-port USB 2.0 hub. The U2211H measures 21.5 inches while the U2311H stretches out to 23 inches; both offer a 1920 by 1080-pixel resolution, 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles, and 1000:1 contrast ratios. The units ship with a height-adjustable tilt/pivot/swivel stand, and are Energy Star 5 rated.

The UltraSharp U2211H starts at $279, while the U2311H runs $299; both are available now in the United States, Japan, and the Asia Pacific region, and should launch in Europe on May 19.
