Taiwanese computer maker Acer has announced that its Aspire X3 series and Aspire M3 series space-saving desktop computers are now available in the U.S. market. Both are intended as powerful, media-friendly desktop computers aimed at the consumer market—and both feature small footprints and affordable components to keep folks happy.
“Our new Aspire X3 and M3 Series desktops are great all-around workhorses offering practical technology in an intuitive design,” said Acer America’s senior business manager for desktops Steve Smith, in a statement. “Engineered to efficiently multitask and tackle digital media, these systems are outfitted with industry-leading components and make an appealing addition to a dorm, bedroom or home office.”
The Aspire X3 series are small form-factor desktop available with a variety of CPUs—AMD Athlon II, AMD, Phenom II, Intel Core i3, or Intel Pentium E6600 are all available—and the systems sport either NVidia GeForce 9200 or Intel GMA graphs, depending on configuration. The machines ship with 4 GB of RAM by default, and also pack a 1 GB hard drive, along with HDMI output for connecting to a big screen or home theater system, and available PCI Express ×1 and ×16 slots for expansion. Folks with peripherals will be enthralled but the eleven available USB 2.0 ports.
The Aspire M3 series moves up a bit to a microtower case, and spore AMD Athlon II or AMD Phenom II processors paired with either ATI Radeon HD5450 graphics or Nvidia GeForce 9200 graphics. The systems ship with a 640 GB hard drive, open PCI Express ×1 and ×16 slots, ten USB 2.0 ports, and 5.1-channel audio support.
The new Acer Aspire desktops are available now at retailers, with prices starting at $449.99.
