Ubisoft asks gamers for help completing Child of Eden

Of all the upcoming Kinect games, Ubisoft’s Child of Eden definitely looks like it is one of the most promising. At the very least, it looks like one of the most original. Whether or not that can translate into an entertaining gameplay experience is a question that we will have to wait until 2011 to answer.

Child of Eden is a rhythm action game that uses the Kinect to integrate sound, vision and touch into one experience. The story has you fighting off a virus that if successful, would destroy the artificial intelligence, Eden, before it could become aware. As you play through the levels, you will destroy objects that create musical sounds, by using your hands and body movements. Check out the trailer below for a closer look.

In order to complete the final level of the game, Ubisoft is asking gamers for their help. Beginning today, gamers are encouraged to submit pictures to the official Child of Eden website, that they consider to be their favorite memories of Earth. These pictures can be of anything at all, as long as they are considered “positive imagery”. The submission deadline is November 10, 2010.

“The theme of Child of Eden is ‘Hope and Happiness’ and I want players to experience happy feelings every time they play the game,” Tetsuya Mizuguchi, Q? Entertainment studio founder and Creative Director of Child of Eden said in statement. “I need your help to convey these positive emotions, so please send us pictures that give you good vibes so we can include them in the ending of the game.”

Child of Eden is currently being developed with an emphasis on the Kinect, but a PS3 version compatible with the PlayStation Move is also a possibility. The game is due out sometime next year.

VR gaming lost me in 2023, and then totally won me back
A character slashes enemies in Asgard's Wrath 2.

If you'd asked me where I stood on VR gaming back in early May of this year, it would have been a dire conversation.

A little over a month into the PlayStation VR2's life span, I was feeling entirely disillusioned with the tech. Headsets liked the Meta Quest 2 had stopped delivering fresh experiences that felt like they could transcend the technical gimmick and PSVR2 felt dead in the water on day one. Despite being a firm supporter of VR for a decade, I felt like the train was about to leave the station for me.
