Xbox’s new 2TB memory card costs more than a Series S

Xbox’s newly announced Seagate memory cards give players access to either an extra 512GB or 2TB of storage, with the latter running customers a whopping $400 — $100 above the market price of the Xbox Series S. That’s right: If players want to boost their Xbox’s memory by a whopping 2TB, they’ll have to be willing to shell out a console’s worth of money.

Like the console’s regular 1TB card, these two cards are also made by Seagate and work seamlessly with next-gen games, meaning players won’t have an issue running new titles off their expanded storage. The 512GB card, which costs $140, will launch in mid-November and is available for pre-order starting today. The 2TB model is set to launch in December and will be available for pre-order starting next month.

However, the pricing for Xbox’s new memory cards is pretty high considering standard pricing for similar hardware out there. The memory cards are essentially just PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs, a PC drive that’s becoming much more common in today’s gaming computers. In fact, PS5 owners that want to expand their console’s storage can only do so with one of those drives. However, they won’t have to drop as much dosh doing so.

Currently, a 2TB Samsung 980 Pro PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD, one of the best M.2 drive models on the market, costs just above $350. Of course, PS5 owners don’t have the same convenience or ease of use that comes with a memory card. Their drives can’t be carried around and simply plugged into another console.

Out of all the photorealistic visuals in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, there’s one that genuinely left my jaw hanging. It’s a simple shot. Deep in the sequel’s back half, I find myself trotting up a hill toward an enormous tornado. While I’d seen plenty of detailed images throughout my adventure, those few seconds made me feel like I was watching real footage, not an intricate animation. I watched in awe as a fierce storm whirred, debris flying in the distance as Senua’s rough skin was dimly illuminated by the cloudy skies above.

Minutes later, my eyes were glazing over again as I ran through yet another rocky landscape.

Fans have gotten ahold of Hellblade 2’s photo mode, and the results are incredible

The long-awaited Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 just came out on Tuesday, and fans quickly caught on to one of the game's best features: its photo mode.

We knew going in that this Xbox console exclusive would have a photo mode thanks to a post from Ninja Theory on X (formerly Twitter) in March. The studio also posted its own screenshots, which predictably look stunning. They also show off some of the mode's capabilities, including a variety of angles with wide shots and close-ups.

Helldivers 2 was a massive hit right out of the gate for developer Arrowhead Game Studios, and the game's popularity has only grown since its release in February of this year. Shedding the top-down perspective of the first Helldivers, this cooperative third-person shooter took the world by surprise by being equally hilarious, fun, and challenging. It demands everyone work together to overcome massive hordes of bugs while also dealing with the fact that one player's slipup could derail the whole mission in the most humorous fashion. It's a total riot, and it's not hard to see why.

It's very unlikely that Helldivers 2 will ever come to Xbox consoles. The primary reason for this is that Helldivers 2 is published by Sony Computer Entertainment, which is a direct competitor to Microsoft. Sony is known for being very protective of IPs and brands, meaning the company tends to keep its published games off of competing consoles.
