AT&T offers users 1,000 free rollover minutes

In what’s becoming a weekly occurrence, AT&T is offering a new deal to its users. Starting Friday, iPhone customers have been receiving a text message from the carrier alerting them they’ve been gifted 1,000 free rollover minutes. It seems to be AT&T’s little way of saying “thanks for not ditching us for the Verizon iPhone.”

AT&T hasn’t issued a press release confirming the offering, but 9to5Mac has confirmed the deal. And if you’re an AT&T iPhone subscriber who has not yet received the valuable text message, sending an SMS to 11113020 that reads “YES” by the end of March should do the trick. We tried out sending this text to the number and indeed received the following response: “Thank you for accepting our free 1000 bonus Rollover minute offer. Please allow up to 4 weeks for processing.” So expect a wait until the minutes are actually added to your account.

This is just the latest in AT&T’s handful of offers. Most recently, the network began its new Mobile to Any Mobile program, allowing users who qualify to receive unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling. Shortly before that, it announced it would be expanding its tethering capabilities. And of course, we all heard that maybe, just maybe, AT&T iPhone customers will get their unlimited data plans back. Anything else you want, AT&T iPhone subscribers? Now’s the time to ask.

This Verizon smartphone deal gives you up to $1,000 for your broken phone

It’s a question as old as smartphones themselves: What do we do with our old iPhone or Android phone when we no longer need it (especially if it’s cracked or no longer turns on)? Well, to go along with these smartphone deals, Verizon has a solution. Right now, you can take advantage of a special offer and receive up to $1,000 when you trade your old phone into Verizon. The newest 5G phones, and a place to trade in old phones for up to $1,000! Where do we sign up?

This deal sounds too good to be true; it even gave us pause at first. The catch, if you can call it that, is that you need to switch over to Verizon if you want the maximum rebate on your new Phone. Verizon is offering up to $800 for your old phone (and that would be for the newest phone; chances are you will get something less); the other $200 comes in the form of a gift card that can be used toward your new phone, or to purchase accessories or other Verizon services.

T-Mobile phone plans may have gotten all the attention as the first carrier to launch a nationwide 5G network coverage, but AT&T has since followed suit. Now, we are seeing a rapidly expanding AT&T 5G network, and the carrier offers 5G access in the majority of its phone plans.

Speaking of plans, AT&T offers a few of them. Between its unlimited data plans, its prepaid plans, and other plans, there's a lot to consider if you're thinking about switching to AT&T or switching your plan within AT&T. There are other major 5G carriers to choose from.

Flagship phone prices have skyrocketed over the past few years. While 2016's iPhone 7 started at $649, the next year's iPhone X brought the price of a flagship phone to $999, a price point that has remained in the iPhone lineup since. Other companies have followed suit, with the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20 both costing $999, and more expensive models available, too.

But if there's anything we learned in 2020, it's that you don't have to spend that much cash to get a flagship-level experience. In fact, if you can swing a solid $700 or $750, you'll get a near-identical experience to a $1,000 phone, no matter what kind of phone you prefer.

Absolutely. 5G support (though who cares, really)? Yep. That awesome new squared-off design that breathes new life into the iPhone series for the first time since the iPhone X? Present.
