Galaxy A33 specs leak ahead of tomorrow’s official launch

The Samsung Galaxy A33 is scheduled to be officially revealed tomorrow during the company’s Awesome Galaxy A Event, but the phone has already been leaked in full. The device was showcased by two separate leakers who revealed renders of it along with its technical specs. Although the information won’t be confirmed until Samsung officially shows off the phone tomorrow, the A33 seems to be a competent device if the leaked specs are to be believed.

The Galaxy A33 will use Samsung’s Exynos 1280 processor, which will also be used to power the Galaxy A53, according to the leak reported by Appuals. The processor is also still unofficially announced, but it’s rumored to have an octa-core CPU, which would give the A33 and A53 a decent amount of power behind their screens.

Samsung phones have been praised for their camera options in the past and the Galaxy A33, despite rumored to be a more budget-friendly phone, isn’t skimping in that department. The A33 features five cameras: A 48-megapixel camera for everyday photos, a 13-megapixel front-facing camera, an ultrawide 120-degree 8-megapixel camera, a high-detail 5-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel portrait lens.

The phone will also feature 6GB of RAM and have 128GB of internal storage. It will use a typical Samsung 5000mAh lithium-ion battery that supports 25-watt charging.

In terms of the leaked renders of the A33, four colors have been spotted so far. Peach, black, and baby blue were posted to Twitter by well-known leaker Evan Blass,; a fourth color, white, was revealed in the initial leak reporting by Appuals. These colors are pretty typical for Samsung offerings, however, they do look nice, especially for midrange smartphones.

Samsung’s A-series are some of the most popular devices around the world given their reduced prices when compared to competing brands like the iPhone. The introduction of the A33, A53, and the rumored A73 will likely add to the line’s continued success if the prices are right. If Appuals’ leak is correct, the A33 should cost around $400 and is rumored to be the least expensive of the bunch.

Samsung today held an event where it showed off its new Samsung Galaxy A-Series phones. Unlike the S-Series models with their Unpacked events, these devices aren't the flashiest phones with the fastest chips and the best cameras. They are, however, the phones that the rest of the world will buy and use en masse. In the top 10 smartphones sold in 2021 courtesy of Counterpoint Research, only one Samsung phone found its way there, and that's the cheap and cheerful Galaxy A12.

Samsung didn't announce phones that cheap, however. It debuted a new Galaxy A33 5G, an A53 5G, and an A73 5G. All devices will be available in April in various markets across the world.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G hands-on review: Your long-term partner

Samsung has overhauled its great value midrange A-Series devices, launching the new Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G. At first glance, both look identical to each other, and arguably no different from the Galaxy A52 5G’s lovely design, but there’s a serious focus on longevity here with various changes to the spec that makes the new lower price even more tempting. I had the chance to try both phones out a few days before the launch.
Galaxy in your hand
The dimensions of the Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G are almost identical, and both are available in the same four colors, making the only immediately obvious way to tell the difference between them on their fronts. The Galaxy A33 5G has a teardrop selfie camera cutout, which Samsung calls Infinity-U, while the Galaxy A53 5G has a circular hole-punch selfie cam, called Infinity-O. There is a slight difference in weight, but as it’s only a few grams you won’t really notice.

The textured rear panel provides plenty of in-hand grip and has a pleasing warmth to it. The camera module blends into it for a smooth, classy finish. There are four colors, a pair of ordinary black or white models, along with a pretty sky blue and an unusual peach finish. I liked the sky blue a lot and was pleased the peach-ish version didn’t stray too far into the overdone pink territory. They give the design a fun, modern twist.

Samsung’s $450 Galaxy A53 launches to take on the iPhone SE

Samsung announced the new Samsung Galaxy A53 5G at a virtual event today. The phone is its successor to last year's A52 and A52s 5G, and comes with a similar design, a similar camera layout, and long-lasting support by way of a five-year software update promise.

The A53 5G launches just in time to take on the iPhone SE and demonstrates the difference between Apple and Samsung's midrange phones in terms of the pros and cons on both sides. Samsung can't pull off classic and vintage design like Apple does, so the A53 5G has a more pleasing and modern look. And the iPhone SE's A15 processor is undoubtedly more powerful than whatever Qualcomm or Exynos processor Samsung uses at this price range. But all that power doesn't mean much on a phone that doesn't have the screen size of the 6.5-inch A53, which also outdoes the iPhone SE's 4.7-inch HD display with a FullHD OLED display complete with a 120Hz refresh rate.
