God of War Ragnarok is reportedly releasing in November

While it was a no-show at yesterday’s Summer Game Fest, Sony Santa Monica’s God of War Ragnarok is reportedly being targeted for a November 2022 release.

According to a report from Bloomberg, PlayStation is expected to announce the precise release date later this month. Despite some outlets reporting that God of War Ragnarok was going to be delayed to 2023, three sources that were familiar with the game’s development say that it is still on track to release this year.

However, game development is often turbulent and plans can always change. While a November release could be the case internally right now, there’s always the chance for a last-minute delay.

The game was rated in South Korea late last month, indicating that it could be getting an official release date soon. But God of War Ragnarok was noticeably absent from yesterday’s Summer Game Fest showcase. However, PlayStation did officially announce The Last of Us Part I, and it’s coming to PlayStation 5 on September 2 and later to PC.

Last month, director Cory Barlog released a video saying that he wanted to share footage of the game, but he wasn’t quite ready yet. The last official update about it was last month when the PlayStation Blog covered the game’s accessibility features.

With Horizon Forbidden West having been released earlier this year, and The Last of Us Part I coming in September, God of War Ragnarok could potentially close out a blockbuster year for PlayStation in November.

God of War Ragnarok is set to release on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

The Astro Bot series is known for showcasing PlayStation history, with some incredible deep cuts and cameos. For the upcoming Astro Bot, which was officially announced during Sony's latest State of Play this week, that apparently comes in the form of a nearly 20-year-old meme.

In an interview with EW, Team Asobi head Nicolas Doucet mentioned some of the characters that players will encounter spread throughout the game's 80 planets. This includes some obvious inclusions, like Nathan Drake from the Uncharted franchise and Aloy from the Horizon games, but snuck into one of the paragraphs is mention of an island in the shape of a giant crab.

Sony revealed that the next PlayStation Studios title coming to PC will be 2022's hit God of War Ragnarok. It will be available on September 19, 2024, on Steam.

PlayStation announced during its May 2024 State of Play that Ragnarok would be coming to PC two years after it originally came to PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles. The rebooted God of War, which released on PS4 in 2018, already came to PC in early 2022. The PC version of Ragnarok will allow for an uncapped frame rate, Nvidia DLSS 3.7, and super ultrawide support. It'll also include the game's standout Valhalla DLC.

PlayStation State of Play returns this week, will feature 14 PS5 games

PlayStation will kick off the summer of digital video game reveal streams this week with a State of Play broadcast. The stream will take place at 3 p.m. PT on Thursday, May 30.

State of Play is one of Sony's primary livestream presentation formats. It tends to be slightly shorter than the company's flagship stream, the PlayStation Showcase. This State of Play is a significant one, though, as Sony's slate of first-party games for 2024 is entirely unknown at this stage. This stream should shed some light on what's coming later this year.
