Watch Dogs 2 headlines light July lineup for Xbox Game Pass

The mid-July games coming to Xbox Game Pass have been announced and they include Inside, Watch Dogs 2, As Dusk Falls, and more.

Starting on July 19, Game Pass subscribers will get access to six titles, including As Dusk Falls as a day-one launch. This interactive drama is the most interesting addition of the group thanks to a unique art style and story that follows two families over the course of 30 years. Like other narrative adventure games, As Dusk Falls is heavily choice-based, with multiple outcomes that are dependent on how you choose to progress.

Watch Dogs 2 is the biggest title in the batch, as it continues Microsoft’s ongoing partnership with Ubisoft. It’ll join other Ubisoft games on the service, including For Honor and Assassin’s Creed Origins.

The full lineup of games include six titles.

  • Watch Dogs 2 (cloud, console, and PC on July 19)
  • Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation (PC on July 19)
  • As Dusk Falls (cloud, console, and PC on July 19)
  • Torment: Tides of Numenera (cloud and console on July 21)
  • MotoGP 22 (cloud, console, and PC on July 21)
  • Inside (cloud, console, and PC on July 29)

We also have the lineup of games set to leave Game Pass on July 31. Make sure to play or purchase these titles with the 20% discount before they leave. Thankfully, the list isn’t very long this time around, though it includes a few cult favorites.

  • Dodgeball Academia
  • Katamari Damacy Reroll
  • Lumines Remastered
  • Omno
  • Raji: An Ancient Epic

This is another solid slate of games coming to Game Pass, though not one of its strongest, especially coming off the recent news that Xbox Gold subscribers will no longer be getting 360 games as part of their monthly games starting in October.

3 Xbox Game Pass games to play over Memorial Day weekend (May 24-27)
Senua carries a torch in Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2.

This was a big week for Xbox as it received its first console-exclusive first-party game of the year in Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. We're also approaching a holiday weekend where you'll have a lot more time to play video games if you so choose. As such, there's one really easy recommendation I can make to people looking for what to play this weekend. Hellblade 2 is a very dark and mature game that depicts what it's like to have psychosis, though, so my other recommendations are a little more lighthearted.

The first is an indie game that launched in Xbox Game Pass earlier this month, where players control a cat exploring a city. The other is a collection of classic Pac-Man games that is leaving Xbox Game Pass very soon. Those two are worth checking out if you want some more relaxing, gameplay-focused fun this weekend after the intense experience Xbox Game Studios' latest offers.

Will Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 be on Xbox Game Pass?
Key art for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War season 2.

Activision Blizzard, which is now owned by Microsoft, has just confirmed that the next Call of Duty game is titled Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. There's been one major point of contention ahead of this year's Call of Duty: Will it be on Xbox Game Pass at launch? A new report from The Wall Street Journal suggests that is the case.

Historically, Microsoft has added all its first-party games from Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda to Game Pass the day they launched. That applies to big AAA releases like Starfield, as well as more experimental titles like 2022's Pentiment and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, which came out this week. Microsoft's public messaging thus far has teased that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will come to the Xbox Game Pass. That said, Microsoft has not officially confirmed it, so there have been conflicting reports on this actually being the case.

3 Xbox Game Pass games you should play this weekend (May 17-19)
Bayek in Assassin's Creed Origins.

As the weekend approaches, you're probably happy that you'll soon have more time to check out some video games. And if you're an Xbox Game Pass subscriber and aren't sure what to play, you have a lot to choose from. That's where I come in. I've looked through the Xbox Game Pass lineup and found three games that I think all kinds of players can have a good time with this weekend.

The first game reimagined what Assassin's Creed could be and is worth a revisit following the announcement of Assassin's Creed Shadows. Next up, we have a standout indie from 2023 that's all about deciphering different languages and exploring how people communicate on an intrinsic level. Finally, there's an underrated magical first-person shooter from EA that just came to the subscription service this week and is worth a look.
