Galaxy Nexus, RAZR, Rezound release dates on Verizon slip out

With Apple now setting a new standard following the release of the iPhone 4S, attention has shifted to the other smartphone-makers of the world and the imminent release of the latest generation of competing devices. Three of those phones now have potential release dates pinned to them, for Verizon at least, thanks to a leaked product listing obtained by Android Central.

Three noteworthy upcoming phones are listed on the sheet. Motorola fans will be pleased to note that the just-announced Droid RAZR is nearly upon us, with a Verizon release set for the coming week, on October 27, assuming the product listing is accurate.

The other two new and noteworthy phones on the list are both seemingly set to arrive on November 10. The HTC Rezound and Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the flagship handset for the launch of the Ice Cream Sandwich update for Android operating systems. All three phones will apparently be available for $299.99 with a contract. This still doesn’t qualify as official confirmation, but it ought to be enough to get Android fans stirring.

Camera specs and testing procedure
The Google Pixel 6 Pro's 50-megapixel main camera is joined by a 48MP telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom, plus a 12MP wide-angle camera. How about the Galaxy S21 Ultra? It was released in January 2021, but still has an enviable specification with a 108MP main camera, a 12MP wide-angle, a 10MP telephoto camera for 3x optical zoom photos, and a 10MP periscope camera for 10x optical zoom photos.

For this comparison, photos were taken back-to-back using the automatic mode, meaning all I did in most cases was press the shutter button. I tested the main camera, wide-angle, optical zoom, portrait, and night modes, but not video. All photos have been compared on a color-calibrated monitor, then resized for a friendlier online viewing experience. Do remember this when looking at the examples below.

Galaxy S22 release date rumored for January; Samsung misses 2021 sales targets

Samsung might be releasing the Galaxy S22 in January as opposed to March, when Mobile World Congress takes place. The company initially shifted its launch of the Galaxy S21 to January earlier this year, and now a new report from The Elec hints that this change might not be temporary.

The report claims that Samsung is already planning to ship the S22 in January, with a mass production ramp-up in November. Rumors around the S22 have already begun to trickle out, indicating a refined S21 more than a generational leap. The biggest change is reported to be Samsung fitting what is essentially the S21 Ultra's zoom camera on all the S22 variants, a change that would give the entire S22-series one of the best Android camera phones on the market, rather than just the Ultra.

Verizon reveals a Samsung Galaxy S20 built for its mmWave 5G network

Want a Samsung flagship phone that can take advantage of Verizon's 5G network? Well, you're in luck. Samsung and Verizon are releasing a new Galaxy S20 model called the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G UW. It's a mouthful, to be sure, but the basic idea is that the device is able to use Verizon's mmWave 5G network, which continues to spread around the U.S.

When the Galaxy S20 series first launched, only the Galaxy S20 Plus and Galaxy S20 Ultra supported mmWave 5G, which is essentially the ultra high-frequency 5G that delivers much faster speeds. The standard Galaxy S20 still supported 5G, but only low-band and mid-band 5G. With the new release you can now get any of the three Galaxy S20 models to work with Verizon's Ultra Wideband network.
