Skyrim will launch with day one patch to improve stability

Skyrim launches this Friday, as gamers all over are no doubt aware. Even before playing it, you know that Bethesda Softworks‘ return the the first-person RPG series will be a triumphant one. Why? Because there are dragons now. And what could be better news than that? A day one patch is coming to ensure that those dragons perform better.

“Day one” is actually a little misleading since the patch is already out. Bethesda sent out an e-mail update to reviewers yesterday bearing news of an update that “fixes some minor stability and quest progression issues.” It’s up for download now when you load up the game and… well… you’ll have to tune in on Thursday when the embargo lifts on our review.

The VR space is ever-expanding with new headsets and technology pushing the medium forward in impressive ways, but it's usually the games and how they take advantage of each headset that matters most. That's why Sony is ensuring that its upcoming PlayStation VR2 -- set to launch February 22 -- has a diverse lineup of titles that showcase what its new device is capable of achieving.

Xbox and Bethesda’s Developer_Direct: how to watch and what to expect

Microsoft has confirmed rumors that it will be holding a game showcase later this month. Called a Developer_Direct, this livestream will take place later today and feature updates on Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda games launching over the next few months, like Redfall. Xbox doesn't typically do that many games showcases outside of events like E3, so this Developer_Direct seems like Microsoft's own take on the Nintendo Direct or State of Play formula.
That said, it's being a bit more transparent that it will be a bit slower-paced than Nintendo or PlayStation's shows typically are.
