Nintendo Packs Two MotionPlus Add-ons into Wii Sports Resort

When Nintendo rolled out its Wii Sports Resort title with the Wii MotionPlus accessory designed to enhance the accuracy and responsiveness of the motion-sensitive Wii remote, responses were generally quite good: the title showcased possibilities of the Wii controller that third party developers have barely tapped into, and while the bowling game might be a lot like the Wii Sports game that ships with every console, sword fighting, archery, canoeing, wakeboarding, and other games were very well executed. The problem? If you’d already bought a second controller for your Wii, Wii Sports Resort only came with a single MotionPlus accessory. If you wanted to play any Wii Sports Resort titles with multiple players, you had to shell out another $20 for a second accessory.

Not anymore: Nintendo has announced it will be selling a special, limited edition version of Wii Sports Resort containing two MotionPlus accessories for a suggested retail price of $59.99. The single-accessory version will continue to be available for a suggested price of $49.99, and the standalone MotionPlus accessories will still be on sale for $19.99.

“Shoppers are looking for value as we head into the holiday season, and this Wii Sports Resort bundle is a gift that players of all ages and experience levels can enjoy,” said Nintendo America’s executive VP of sales and marketing Cammie Dunaway, in a statement. “Best of all, it instantly gets multiple members of the household engaged in playing as soon as the package is opened.”

Nintendo claims Wii Sports Resort has sold over 1.25 million units in the United States; further, some 1.36 million standalone MotionPlus accessories have been sold, along with over 250,000 additional accessories bundles with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10.
