How to get Obsidian in Lego Fortnite

Obsidian is almost as rare a resource in Lego Fortnite as it is in real life. This black, razor-sharp material can only be found in the most dangerous environments. That means knowing where to find it is only part of the trouble. The real test will be in preparing yourself to survive the trip. You’ll also need the tools necessary to collect it. If you’re ready to face the heat, here’s how to get Obsidian in Lego Fortnite.

Where to find Obsidian

Obsidian is an ore, so if your first instinct was to look for Obsidian inside of caves, then you’re on the right track. Unlike something like Marble, however, Obsidian isn’t as common or in as easy to reach places. Obsidian will be found deep into caves near lava, but only caves found in a desert biome will have lava inside.

Once you’ve found a desert cave, you will want to stock up on an item that gives you some heat resistance since, if it wasn’t obvious, lava is quite hot. Get to spelunking, ready to fight any mobs on the way, until you reach a lava deposit. This is where you can find Obsidian (pictured above), which can often be high up on the walls. You need at least a Rare Pickaxe to successfully mine it, so you won’t be able to get it right away. Focus on collecting basic rocks first to build toward nabbing a better pickaxe.

Once you have your tool, collect your haul — but don’t get greedy — and make your escape with the goods.

Epic Games just teased a Fallout and Fortnite crossover
Two vault-dwellers and a helmet from a set of power armor.

With Fallout being everywhere right now, it's only fair that it joins Fortnite, too. Epic Games teased on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday that the iconic open-world RPG series will be coming to Fortnite.

While there aren't any public details yet on what will be offered during this collaboration, we can expect some Fallout-themed weapons and some skins. Maybe a vault dweller suit or some power armor? Since Epic put a thumbs-up emoji in the caption, it's safe to assume that Vault Boy will be involved.

When does the new Fortnite season start?
Fortnite characters by a car.

Every new season in Fortnite is a massive event. While not quite on the scale of a new Chapter, seasons still bring about a ton of changes to the ever-evolving battle royale phenomenon to keep players engaged. New skins, abilities, missions, weapons, and a new battle pass to complete are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of new content. If one season doesn't quite hit for you, or if you've already crushed all the content there was and are eagerly awaiting the next season's start, knowing when to mark your calendar is essential. Let's dive into when you can expect the next season of Fortnite to begin. When does the next Fortnite season start? We are currently in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, meaning the next season will be Chapter 5 Season 3. The season will roll over at 2 a.m PT on May 24, 2024. Keep in mind that there is always a period of downtime between seasons as Epic updates the game and gets it ready for whatever new content and themes will be included. So while that 2 a.m. time should be accurate for when the season will end, we can't be 100% certain about when the servers will be back up and you can actually start playing season 3. We have no official word on what the next Fortnite season's theme will be, nor have there been any credible leaks. If we hear anything on what to expect on May 24, we will keep you in the loop.

Sea of Thieves alliances guide: how to join and benefits
Two ships fighting in Sea of Thieves.

There are ways in which you could play as a solo pirate in Sea of Thieves, but adventuring is so much more fun and rewarding when you're part of a crew. Once you've gotten a handle on how to play the game, taking on voyages and attacking other players with fellow pirates is where the real fun begins. Alliances make it much easier to coordinate and team up with your fellow scallywags, but how you form them and all the benefits they can provide are somewhat obfuscated. It isn't as simple as joining a party through a menu like in other games, so follow our treasure map to learn all about how alliances work in Sea of Thieves.
How to join or start an alliance

Alliances aren't made in menus, but require you to do some work in-game. Just like real pirates, alliances are determined by what flag you're flying. When you're sailing near a ship you want to partner up with, climb up your crow's nest and interact with the flag box. Go to the Alliances tab and choose the Offer Alliance flag. If the other ship is also flying that flag, you can then change your flag to the Join Alliance flag to fully form the alliance. There is no limit on how many ships can be in an alliance at once in one game.
