A Wholesome Direct stream took place today, showcasing over 70 upcoming cozy games. Four new games got a surprise launch as part of the show, with many more getting Steam demos today.

Wholesome Direct is n video game live broadcast that focuses on “cozy” games. That’s a broad term that tends to include farming sims, puzzle games, and more. This summer’s show was loaded with new game announcements and updates on previously revealed titles, like Dungeons of Hinterberg.

Of the 70-plus games shown, four are available today. First, there’s Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge. Out now on Steam, this is a relaxing management game where players take care of a frog sanctuary. It features a wide variety of frogs to collect and breed, as well as item-crafting minigames. Management sim fans can also grab The Palace on the Hill today. It’s a game set in India and is about a child taking care of his father’s chai shop.

For puzzle game fans, Poool is a new spin on the popular Suika Game. The twist? Players combine colorful balls by shooting them into one another on a pool table. Finally, Tracks of Thought is a narrative game that’s set on a train and is about a ladybug trying to help passengers’ find things they’ve lost. It features conversations that play out in a card game system.

Other highlights included picross game Squeakross: Home Squeak Home, a strategy side-scroller starring crustaceans titled Crab God, and Rooster, a gorgeous narrative title with gameplay inspired by each animal of the Chinese zodiac.

That’s only a small taste of the eclectic games featured, so make sure to catch up on the hourlong showcase over on the Wholesome Games YouTube channel.

The best RPG you’ve never played is coming to Nintendo Switch
The hero of Fantasian runs.

Mistwalker's Apple Arcade exclusive RPG Fantasian is making its way to consoles under the new title Fantasian Neo Dimension. Fantasian was originally released in two parts in 2021, and Fantasian Neo Dimension will contain all the game's content when released on Nintendo Switch for the 2024 holiday season.

During the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, Fantasian Neo Dimension was revealed to be coming to Nintendo Switch in time for the holidays. Fantasian is a turn-based RPG featuring an amnesiac protagonist named Leo who awakens in a dimension known as the Machine Realm. In the Apple version, players would tap on locations to move Leo around the maps and engage in random battles. However, using the Dimengeon system would allow players to disable random battles against foes they already faced and store them in the titular Dimengeon to explore uninterrupted. There is a limit to how many fights can be stored, so players cannot avoid every fight in the game.

Apple Arcade’s most popular game is coming to PlayStation, Switch, and PC
Hello Kitty bakes food in a cafe in Hello Kitty: Island Adventure.

Apple Arcade hit Hello Kitty: Island Adventure is coming to new platforms in 2025. The Animal Crossing-like life sim will launch on Nintendo Switch and PC in early 2025. It’ll be a timed console exclusive for Nintendo before coming to PlayStation 4 and PS5 shortly after.

Hello Kitty: Island Adventure is Apple Arcade’s most popular game, Arcade Senior Director Alex Rofman told me in an interview earlier this year. The iOS game takes the basic concept of Animal Crossing and adds in popular Sanrio characters. That experience has only been available to Apple Arcade subscribers for the past year, but it’ll soon make its way to more platforms.
