‘Thief’ comes into the light with its first trailer

Mere weeks after Eidos Montreal unveiled the first look at its game Thief, formerly known as Thief 4, the developer has followed up with the first trailer for the game. Thief won’t be out until next year, which means that it is being designed specifically for the next-gen consoles as well as PC – it has already been officially confirmed for the PS4, as well as “other next-gen consoles.” Unless there is another console on the way – which would shock the Hell out of the entire industry – that specifically means that it will be coming to the next Xbox. This is one of the few games that has not only embraced its next-gen development, it has not shied away from discussing the capabilities of the new hardware. Unlike several other titles on the way that will be released on PS4 and the next Xbox, Thief is one of the few games that we know of, that will only be available on the next-gen, with no plans to release a port for the PS3, Xbox 360, or even the Wii U.

The trailer is brief and made up of cinematics (even if the graphics are being run using the in-game engine), so there isn’t much to gleam in the way of the next-gen power. Instead Eidos is highlighting the tone, which is moody and dark. Check back for more on the game in the coming weeks.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s first updates will tackle its PC performance issues

Capcom revealed what the first updates for Dragon's Dogma 2 will fix and change following the RPG's first weekend on the market.

Dragon's Dogma 2 launched on March 22. While it garnered positive reviews, it also had a bevy of technical issues, particularly on PC. Capcom admitted it was aware of Dragon's Dogma 2's optimization problem on the day it launched and is now outlining the first steps being taken to improve things via game updates. On PC, Capcom will release an update that will improve DLSS Super Resolution quality and fix "an issue where models appeared low-quality under some specific settings."

Xbox Game Pass gets its first Activision Blizzard game very soon

Microsoft unveiled the batch of titles coming to its gaming subscription service throughout the back half of March. Quite a few awesome titles are making their way to the service, but by far, the most notable addition is Diablo IV, the first Activision Blizzard game being made available on Xbox Game Pass.

Diablo IV was released in June 2023, just a few months before Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. It's the latest entry in a long-running isometric RPG series, and it retains the same engaging dungeon design, deep progression systems, and captivating loot loop that makes games in this franchise special. People have been wondering when Activision Blizzard games would arrive on Xbox Game Pass in the months since the acquisition process was completed, and Diablo IV was finally confirmed to be coming to the service on March 28 last month.

Grounded and Pentiment are the first Xbox games to come to Nintendo Switch

During Wednesday's Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase, we learned about two of the Xbox Game Studios titles that are going multiplatform. The games in question are Obsidian Entertainment's Grounded and Pentiment, and the latter will launch tomorrow on Nintendo Switch.

Earlier this year, various leaks and rumors suggested that first-party Xbox exclusives like Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment could make their way over to competing platforms. Microsoft finally addressed the rumors on February 15, confirming that it planned to bring four of its first-party games to non-Xbox platforms over the course of 2024. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer wouldn't say what any of the specific games were at the time, though, stating that "the teams that are building those games have announced plans that are not too far away." It's now clear that Spencer was partially referring to this Nintendo Direct, as two of the games showed up here.
