Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and Entertainment & Digital Media division president Nancy Tellem met with TV studio executives from CBS, Sony and WME (William Morris Endeavor, a media agency) last week in an attempt to nail down exclusive television content for the Xbox One console, according to Deadline. CBS president and CEO Les Moonves, Sony Pictures Television president Steve Mosko, and WME co-CEOs Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell were all reportedly present at the meeting.

The group discussed the Xbox One and its TV-driven focus, a point that Microsoft stressed heavily in its console announcement. The focus of the meeting was apparently on bringing established studios in to deliver dedicated apps for the new platform. Something capable of delivering established content that could complement Microsoft’s growing focus on exclusive programming, such as Steven Spielberg’s planned live-action Halo show.

Ballmer also wanted to show off the new hardware and convince the Hollywood execs that Microsoft’s commitment to entertainment services is for real. Microsoft previously asserted that the Xbox One will come with more entertainment options than any other game console before it, including the aforementioned Halo show and an exclusive partnership with the NFL. Though Microsoft’s E3 press conference will focus on the games, meetings such as this one suggest that there’s more to come from the non-interactive entertainment space as well.

Microsoft xCloud vs. Shadow: Which is worth your hard-earned money?
Can Microsoft's game-streaming service Project xCloud compete with Shadow?
microsoft xcloud vs shadow project forza

As Steam and the Epic Games Store continue to battle for the PC digital marketplace, a new competition is brewing in the PC gaming space: Game streaming. Microsoft's Project xCloud service will likely be a huge player in this new gaming frontier, but it will have no shortage of competitors, including Shadow. The game streaming service from French company Blade is already available. Both services have the same general concept: The ability to play intensive, high-end games on low-powered hardware. They aren't exactly the same, though, so we decided to take a detailed look at Microsoft xCloud vs. Shadow to help you decide between the two.
Supported platforms

Microsoft xCloud and Shadow both offer versatility as far as where you can play your games. Microsoft xCloud is designed to complement an Xbox One or PC. But it could also replace the need for an Xbox console or high-end PC gaming rig if you're willing to sacrifice some performance. As such, you will be able to use the service on an Xbox One, PC, or mobile device, including tablets and smartphones (iOS and Android). Microsoft's Azure servers let users harness the power of the Cloud to play intensive games on both capable devices and devices that otherwise wouldn't offer support. For instance, xCloud will let users play Microsoft exclusives on smartphones for the first time.
