Alienware Announces Dual-Core Intel Systems

From the press release:

The Alienware Area-51 5500 desktop, Area-51 ALX desktop, and MJ-12(R) 5500 workstation will come loaded with the highly advanced power of two execution cores on a single chip to deliver breakthrough performance for gaming, digital content, and other demanding applications.

Alienware systems featuring the dual-core Intel Pentium Processor Extreme Edition 840 support Intel Hyper-Threading technology. This allows Alienware systems to offer advanced multitasking potential by supporting up to four threads and accommodating multiple applications running simultaneously, such as playing a game while also streaming video in the background. Running at 3.2GHz, the Intel Pentium Processor Extreme Edition 840 provides Alienware systems with 2MB L2 cache and 800 MHz FSB for faster information flow and great performance for data-intensive applications like gaming, video editing, and 3D rendering.

Dual-core-processor powered Alienware systems will also deliver cutting-edge performance enhancements like dual-channel DDR-2 667 memory and innovative Intel Matrix Storage Technology through the powerful Intel 955X Express chipset. Intel Matrix Storage Technology provides enhanced storage and safekeeping for digital content such as video, audio, photos, music libraries, and 3D gaming environments. Backed by Intel Execute Disable Bit technology, Alienware systems bring additional peace of mind by providing protection against malicious virus attacks.

Best Alienware deals: Gaming PCs, laptops, and monitors
Alienware Aurora R15 placed at an angle on a table.

Alienware is one of the older brands on the market, and in the past couple of decades or so, it has expanded into pretty much anything gaming-related, including gaming laptops, gaming PCs, headsets, and even gaming chairs. Of course, it also positions itself as a premium brand, and even though it's owned by Dell and does a lot more budget-friendly gear, it's still pretty expensive, all things considered. Luckily, there are a lot of great deals you can take advantage of that can significantly bring down the price of Alienware products, whether it's from Dell directly or other big retailers.

On the other hand, if you can't quite find what you're looking for below, you can also check out these other great gaming laptop deals and gaming PC deals, too.

The best Copilot+ laptops that you can buy now
The two sizes of the Galaxy Book4 Edge on a table.

Copilot+ PCs represent a new era for Windows. Microsoft's implementation of AI is key to these new devices, of course, but so is the transition to Arm. Although Copilot+ isn't limited to Qualcomm's Arm chips, right now they have exclusivity because of the required 40 Tera Operations Per Second (TOPS) performance of the neutral processing unit (NPU) in these devices.

That means these new laptops are thin, powerful, and have fantastic battery life -- a fantastic antidote to the MacBook Air. Though we haven't reviewed any in-depth yet, here are our favorites from among the ones we've seen in person so far.
