If you’ve been thinking about tinkering with a Raspberry Pi camera, you can now get started with a low-cost bundle that comes with the Model A (the low-power variant) motherboard and camera module for $40.
The camera, which saw strong demand after it went on sale, plugs into the Raspberry Pi’s Camera Serial Interface port. The camera shoots 5-megapixel stills as well as video at up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. With a Raspberry Pi camera, you can build a home security camera, create time-lapse video, shoot videos from outer space, and anything you can dream up for this mini computer. The Raspberry Pi, however, doesn’t come set up, but the Raspberry Pi foundation’s website has detailed instructions on how to get started, as well as ideas on what you can do with the camera.
