The match-recording “Theater Mode” from Call of Duty: Black Ops II won’t be returning in Call of Duty: Ghosts, but Infinity Ward hasn’t forgotten about the important role that the shooter series plays in the eSports world. Details are non-existent at this point, but the Ghosts developer shared a weekend Vine that teases something in Ghosts called “Broadcaster Mode,” along with the message, “Yes, it’s happening #CODeSports.”
There’s no real sense of how the teased mode will work, but IW’s Vine post clearly shows the option from one of the game’s menus. Sure, it’s possible that the dev is just trolling its fan community, but that would be… unwise, don’t you think?
You won’t have to wait long for answers, at least. Call of Duty: Ghosts comes to PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 tomorrow, November 5, 2013. The “Broadcaster Mode” won’t be available on the disc, but could be released soon as an update. The game is also a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which means it will be available on the two platforms’ respective launch dates: November 15 and November 22. We’ll have our review ready to go for you tomorrow, though the real fans will no doubt be lined up for the midnight launch. Don’t forget to call in sick for work.
