By now, we’re accustomed to seeing pop-up stores from Microsoft and Apple spring out of nowhere, but we weren’t expecting to see Intel join that party. Alas, starting November 23 in New York City, the first Intel retail outfit will open its doors to the public, just in time for the holiday shopping season. It’s unclear, however, whether you’ll actually be able to buy anything from these stores. At the very least, you’ll get hands-on time with the tech that’ll be on display.
Intel won’t stop at just having an NYC location. Although they have yet to announce which other cities it plans to open its pop-up shops, Intel promises more stores in additional locations. So what do they intend to do with these stores? Aside from showing off Intel-powered hardware like laptops and desktops, they’ll also showcase speakers, host DIY events, and more. There will also be free coffee served every day, as well as free movies shown on Fridays.
Not all of the Intel stores will look or run the same though. Intel will reportedly work with the local community where each store is located to coordinate events, bring local tech-heads and inventors in to enlighten folks, and more.
The stores are set to close by January 25.
