Kaspersky Announces Vista Support

Kaspersky Labs has announced the availability of free beta versions of Maintenance Pack 2 for both its Anti-Virus 6.0 and Internet Security 6.0 products—which “full support” for Microsoft’s new Windows Vista operating system, currently available to business and volume license customers. (Everyday consumers will be able to shell out for the new OS at the end of January, 2006.)

“Many of our users have expressed interest in Vista, and we are providing a clear path for them to do so securely with Kaspersky,” said Steve Orenberg, Kaspersky Labs’ president. “Customers can confidently continue to enjoy the market’s leading response time and protection from Kaspersky regardless of which operating system they choose.”

Kaspersky says the beta version of Maintenance Pack 2 for its Anti-Virus and Internet Security products are provided for “familiarization and testing purposes only,” but it clearly psyched about getting Vista-savvy security products out the door before Microsoft’s new operating system is available to consumers. Discussion about the releases and any issues connected with them will be covered on Kaspersky’s online forums.
