iSkin SOHO Keeps Your MacBook Under Wraps

iSkin has introduced its new SOHO line of laptop sleeves designed to protect Apple MacBooks, MacBook Pros, and similarly-sized PCs with 13- and 15-inch screens. The multi-layered SOHO design keeps notebooks protected from the elements and wear-and-tear of on-the-go computing, while still keeping technology looking cool and stylish.

“People need sturdy, functional protection for their computers but don’t want to carry around something that conflicts with their personal style,” said Tomas Rojcik of iSkin, in a statement. “SOHO is sophisticated enough for the professional, yet stylish enough for the student—and it proves computer protection can be as great looking as it is practical.”

The sSOHO features a durable synthetic leather outer layer, a reinforced padded center, and a soft inner ining. The cases are available in two sizes for for the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook and MacBook Pro models, but also handle older Apple PowerBooks and iBooks, as well as similarly-sized PCs. The SOHO line features black sleeves offset with five different color accents on the zippers and stitching: color options include blue, grey, red, orange, and pink; all the cases are dyed using environmentally safe inks.

The SOHO sleeves are available now from the iSkin Web site and will hit retailers in a few weeks; the run $59.99 for the 13-inch edition and $64.99 for the 15-inch edition.

I reviewed both the XPS 14 and MacBook Pro. They’re closer than you think
The XPS 14 and MacBook Pro side by side on a desk.

Apple has been squeezing impossibly strong performance out of the 14-inch MacBook Pro for years now. All the while, I've been wondering if a proper Windows alternative could ever really exist -- a laptop that's as premium and compact as it is powerful.

The Dell XPS 14 certainly seems like as suitable a rival as I've come across yet. Having reviewed and tested both machines myself, I have a pretty good idea where their strengths and weaknesses lie -- and which is the better option for most potential buyers.

MacBooks could soon fall behind the iPad Pro in this important way
The iPad Pro (2022) sitting in the Magic Keyboard.

The dynamic balance between the Mac and the iPad may be about to shift again. Both the MacBook Air and iPad Pro will reportedly get updated this spring, boosting performance with the inclusion of the new M3 chip.

But a new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman indicates that a new "landscape Face ID camera" may be in the works for the iPad Pro, potentially taking away one of the main advantages that MacBooks have over iPads. With so much of work happening in video calls, the iPad Pro might become a far better laptop replacement in this new generation.
