The third installment of Electronic Arts’ Command & Conquer real-time strategy game series is now available for the Xbox 360. Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars takes the franchise back to its beginnings in the Tiberium universe and finds the the self-replicating green alien goo has infected the planet Earth. An alliance of nations plans to defend the planet, but the Command & Conquer villain Kane has some other ideas.
According to Electronic Arts, the Xbox 360 demo of Tiberium Wars was the most-downloaded EA demo during its first week of availability, and was one of the top-played demos on Xbox Live.
“The team is truly excited to see the response form the recent demo release and can’t wait for gamers to get their hands on the entire Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars game,” said Mike Glosecki, Senior Producer at EA, in a release. “Whether you are a Command & Conquer fan, an avid RTS or Xbox 360 gamer, or someone who enjoys a great Sci-Fi universe with a deep story, you will enjoy the fast-action gameplay and watching the epic story in the game unfold.”
Tiberium Wars is highlightled with high-definition live action video sequences featuring actors whose faces will be familiar to science fiction and genre fans, including Tricia Helfer and Grace Park from the current Battlestar Galactica series, Lost’s Josh Holloway, House’s Jennifer Morrison, Billy Dee Williams (featured in two of the original Star Wars films), and veteran Michael Ironside (who has glowered and rumbled his way through everything from Top Gun and ER to the Warner Bros. Batman and Justice League series to…well, there was that Heavy Metal sequel). Several real-life news reporters also have cameos.
The Xbox 360 edition offers both single player and multiplayer modes which let players challenge each other via Xbox Live. The game is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB, and has a suggested retail price of $59.99. A version for Windows PCs is priced at $49.99.
