Brace yourselves. A new videogame movie adaption is en route, and this one will not only defy all expectations, but also logic and common sense. It won’t be "Halo," "Quake," or even "Grand Theft Auto." No friends, as the headline has already informed you, we’re in for a movie about "The Sims."
According to an article on Variety.com, 20th Century Fox has snapped up the rights to a film version of the game and is planning a feature with producer John Davis. If you’re not familiar with his work, think “Norbit,””Eragon,” and “When a Stranger Calls Home.” Yea, we’ve never seen any of those either. Just be thankful it’s not Uwe Boll.
The script will be written by Brian Lynch, who also wrote “Scary Movie 3.” Given the brilliant concept and talent being mixed into this movie, it should shape up to be a real gem. All it needs is Pauly Shore playing the goofy, care-free protagonist of the movie who can’t get a job and spends all day ordering pizza and hitting on his neighbor. Hopefully we’ll get illustrated word bubbles instead of dialogue.
