Spyro Legend Continues with Eternal Night

Sierra Entertainment has announced the second installment in the current Spyro the Dragon franchise—The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. The new game will continue the Legend of Spyro trilogy, and again features the voices of actors Elijah Wood as Spyro and Gary Oldman as Spyro’s mentor Ignitus. The game will feature several all new powers, including four new breath attacks, four new elemental melee moves, four new Fury attacks, and a new “Dragon Time” feature which lets Spyro bend time to dodge attacks and maneuver through tricky environmental puzzles.

“We’re really excited to continue the re-emergence of one of video gaming’s most popular characters through this ongoing trilogy,” said Al Simone, Sierra’s senior VP of global marketing, in a statement. “The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night takes the action and excitement of The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning to the next level with new breath attacks, fury modes, and the introduction of the new Dragon Time ability to deliver an exciting experience that Spyro fans and gamers of all ages will love.”

The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night sees the Ape King arriving at the Temple of Souls in his effort to spawn a new age of darkness. In the game, players take on the role of Spyro as he attempts to unravel the meaning behind a series of odd visions he has been having—and ultimately find the keys to thwarting the Ape King’s plan.

The Eternal Night is being developed by Krome Studios and Amaze Entertainment, and is schedule to bereleased “this fall” for PlayStation 2, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo DS systems, as well as or mobile phones. No pricing or game rating information has been released.

Ubisoft confirms Assassin’s Creed remakes are in the works

In a company interview with CEO Yves Guillemot posted on the Ubisoft website Thursday, the executive reveals that there are remakes of Assassin's Creed games in the works, although he doesn't specify which ones.

"Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them," he says, implying that it could pertain to games made before Odyssey. "There are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich."

Surfaced patent shows what an Xbox streaming console would’ve looked like

There have been a few Xbox devices that have never come to fruition, one of which was Keystone, a prototype for an affordable game streaming device you could hook up to your TV or monitor. Thanks to a surfaced patent, we've gotten an even closer look at what it would've potentially looked like.

The patent, first spotted by Windows Central, gives us a more complete view of the device. We've previously seen the Keystone in the flesh. Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer is known for hiding teases and interesting collectibles on the shelf in his office. In a 2022 X (formerly Twitter) post congratulating Bethesda on Fallout's 25th anniversary, you can see a small white device on the top shelf that's actually a Keystone prototype. Xbox told Digital Trends that it was a version of the device made before it decided to "refocus our efforts on a new approach.”
