Wii Unwraps Gifting

Wii Unwraps Gifting

Just in time for the holidays, Nintendo has unveiled a new gifting feature for its Wii Shop Channel. Beginning this week, owners of Nintendo’s Wii video game console will be able to purchase classic games using the Wii Shop Channel, and send them to other Wii owners with whom they’ve already traded Friend Codes. And if the intended recipient already has the game you’re trying to give them, no worries: buyers will receive a message and be returned to the catalog with their wallets intact.

Wii console owners can purchase classic games originally designed for older game systems using Wii Points, an online payment system. In the United States, a Wii Point is equal to $0.01, so a game costing 50o Wii Points is priced at $5, and a game priced at 1,000 Wii Points costs the equivalent of $10.

Nintendo has been rolling out new games for the Wii Shop Channel every Monday. This week’s additions are Pokémon Snap (1,000 Wii Points), originally developed for the Nintendo 64, along with the NES title Ghosts’n Goblins (500 Wii Points) and the NEOGEO game Baseball Stars 2 (900 Wii Points).

Unwrapping our favorite holiday gaming memories: GameCube, Pokémon, and more

The holidays can be a special (or stressful) time. In a best-case scenario, it means getting to spend some time with loved ones and soaking in some warm vibes at the end of a hectic year. Holidays like Christmas are about more than gift-giving; they’re the rare moments in any given year where it feels like peace on Earth could be possible.

But, of course, the presents don’t hurt. Memorable gifts can create formative memories for kids and adults alike. That’s the entire premise of the classic A Christmas Story, which builds a coming-of-age story around a coveted Red Ryder Range 200 Shot BB gun. Some presents take on a symbolic quality, whether they get kids interested in something that will one day become part of their career or bring them closer to their family.

Amazon Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen) — $40, was $90

While the Amazon Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) was a popular smart display, the third generation Amazon Echo Show 5 is the newest Echo Show on the market. We also think it’s one of the best smart displays you can buy. With this smart display you’re able to stream your favorite music, shows, podcasts, and more from providers like Amazon Music, Spotify, and Prime Video. It’s the perfect assistant around the house, giving you easy access to your calendars and reminders, daily recipe ideas, timers, lists, and news and traffic updates. The Echo Show 5 can also sync with compatible video doorbells to display what’s going on at your front door on its screen. I also has a built-in camera of its own that’s great for video calls.
