Every so often, during the more plentiful periods in life, there inevitably comes a point when you could use a little extra fridge or freezer space. Typically, the solution to this admittedly first-world problem is to snag yourself a utility freezer or extra fridge, but if you’d rather not buy both, Frigidaire’s got a better solution for you.
Showcased this week at the 2014 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas, the Frigidaire 2-in-1 Classic Slate Freezer just so happens to double as a refrigerator, and thanks to its powerful variable-temp cooling unit, can switch between modes at the push of a button.
In addition to these easily adjustable temperature settings, the new freezer includes Frigidaire’s innovative SpaceWise moveable organization system, which allows you to add, remove or reposition shelves to better fit your needs. And for all those late-night ice cream binges, the unit is also outfitted with an LED lighting system to help you spot all your goodies in the darkness of your garage or basement.
The 17-cubic-foot version of the freezer is already on the market, and Frigidaire says that higher capacity models will be available in April, with prices starting around $989. That definitely puts it on the higher end of the utility freezer market, but it’s still way cheaper than buying a fridge and freezer separately.
