Casio’s Exilim EZ-Z9 Dials in YouTube

Casio

Casio has taken the wraps off its new Exilim EX-Z9 digital camera, offering an 8.1 megapixel resolution, 3× optical zoom, a 2.6-inch LCD, and electronic image stabilization in a sleek design intended to let users easily take the camera with them anywhere. The camera also captures video, and features a “YouTube Capture Mode” that enables users to record video and upload it to the popular video sharing site in as few as three steps.

“Whether you are taking snap shots of your family at the park or your friends at a concert, this high-quality digital camera is sure to satisfy all of your photographic wants and needs,” said Casio Digital Imaging VP Bill Heuer, in a statement.

The YouTube Capture mode captures H.264 video at 640 by 480 pixels and 30 frames per second; users can then upload their video to YouTube with the bundled proprietary YouTube Uploader Software (Windows only) from their PCs.

The EX-Z9 features 23 scene modes and electronic image stabilization designed to enable users to take blur-free photos that are properly balanced and exposed in a wide variety of settings. The camera also features face detection technology to get sharp exposures of human faces in the photo frame. Folks who find all the modes and features confusing or awkward will appreciate an Easy Mode that simplifies the camera down to just three menus (image size, flash, and self-timer). The cameras sport a rechargeable lithium ion battery along with 18.6 MB of built-in memory; they store images to SD, SDHC, or MMC media. Casio says the camera will take still images at light levels all the way down to ISO 1,600.

The EX-Z9s will be available this month in black, silver, orange, and pink for a suggested retail price of $159.99.
