Titanfall will eventually offer both paid downloadable content – via season pass or ala carte – and free add-ons that tweak how the game operates. Respawn Entertainment founder Vince Zampella confirmed the detail in a new video interview with GameSpot. “We plan to do DLC to support the game,” he said. “We’re gonna do paid DLC; we’re also gonna do free updates. There’s thing that we want in the game that we didn’t get to ship in the final game. So we’ll add private matches and things like that for free. There will be some paid DLC. We’re gonna do a season pass just because if you buy it up front, you get a deal. We’re not doing microtransactions.”
None of this is a particular surprise, given the game’s multiplayer focus and the ubiquity of DLC in modern-day gaming. There are still lots of questions about what Titanfall is going to look like on day one, so the idea of that unknown expanding in a few months from now is nice to know about, but largely an academic consideration at this point. The game comes to PC and Xbox One on March 11, with an Xbox 360 port developed by Bluepoint Games due to arrive on March 25.
