2K Games has formally announced that it will ship a new version of its award-winning BioShock for the Sony PlayStation 3 in October 2008, and that the version will include new content and features not available in existing WIndows and Xbox 360 versions of the game. 2K Games is not-so-subtly hoping the new version for the PS3 will give BioShock the opportunity to be named game of the year for a second time; the initial version took home several top honors in 2007 game awards.
“We are excited to see the impact of this stellar title for the PlayStation 3 system when it debuts this fall,” said 2K president Christoph Hartmann, in a statement. “Over the coming months we look forward to revealing the new features and content that will make this a must-have game for its new audience, as well as for those who enjoyed it on the other platforms.”
The company did not reveal what new features or content will be added to the title.
2K Games is a publishing label of Take 2 Interactive, the same folks who develop the controversial Grand Theft Auto franchise, as well as titles like Manhunt and Bully.
