Video And Voice Chat For Gmail

Video And Voice Chat For Gmail

Instant messaging services have it, and now Google’s Gmail service does too: free video and voice chat. The company has issued a plug-in to allow users to communicate by voice or video chat with other Gmail users, Information Week reports.

All you need is a computer running Mac OS X or Windows XP or Vista and any of the browsers that support Gmail (which, of course, includes Chrome). And a Webcam and microphone, naturally.

Google claims that Gmail is the first Webmail service to offer this. Rajen Sheth, senior product manager for Google’s enterprise group, said:

"It actually is something that can help people, especially, in tough times, to save money. It makes it so you can do face-to-face meetings without travel."

Best Mac Mini deals: Save over $100 on an Apple desktop
Apple Mac Mini 2018

If you really love Apple desktops but don't really have the space to fit in a full-sized tower, then you may want to consider the tinier Apple Mac Mini, which can easily sit on your desk near your monitor without an issue. Even though the various configurations are tiny, they have quite a bit of performance, which isn't surprising since many of them include the newer M1 and M2 chips from Apple, which are the same chips you'll find on Apple's MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. That said, all the power and tiny form factor tech do cost quite a bit of money, and some of the older models are no longer available. That's why we've mostly collected deals on refurbished versions of the Mac Mini; not only are they going to save you quite a bit of money, but they still have some solid performance.

Of course, if you don't find what you're looking for here, you could check out these other excellent Apple deals. Also, if you want a more traditional experience, take a look at these iMac deals and MacBook deals deals as well.

Copilot+ was a monster announcement. Here’s how I think Apple will respond
The Surface Laptop shown in front of a Copilot+ sign.

Microsoft's big Copilot+ announcement last week was certainly impressive. Combining both an embrace of AI and Arm, it went along way toward not just catching up with MacBooks -- but actually surpassing them.

But Microsoft's time in the spotlight won't last too long. Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is next week, and the rumored Mac announcements will either make Copilot+ look a lot less impressive -- or make Apple appear out of touch.

The free version of ChatGPT just got much more powerful
OpenAI developer using GPT-4o.

While OpenAI continues to add new features to ChatGPT Plus, the free version of ChatGPT has remained relatively stagnant since its release. But not anymore.

One of the best features that's been exclusive to ChatGPT Plus -- custom GPTs -- is now available to use for free. The feature is exactly what it sounds like -- customized versions of ChatGPT that users can create to fulfill a specific task. You can give them extra knowledge and direct their behavior with custom prompts, all without needing to code.
