Verizon Drops Omnia Price After Six Days

Verizon Drops Omnia Price After Six Days

We’re used to seeing phones drop in price six months after their introduction, but six days might be a new record. Following Verizon’s introduction of the Samsung Omnia last Tuesday, the company has lowered the price on the smartphone from $250 to $200.

Verizon dropped the pre-rebate price on the phone from $320 to $270, and kept its $70 mail-in rebate offer for a final price of the $200. This puts the Omnia in the same territory as AT&T’s iPhone 3G, and its own BlackBerry Storm.

Besides a 5-megapixel camera, the Omnia didn’t offer much to justify the $50 premium over other such popular smartphones (or Samsung’s $150 AT&T-exclusive Eternity) likely leading to the price drop.

Amazon Kindle down to lowest-ever price for Prime Day 2021
A close up of someone pulling a Kindle out of their bag.

Had enough Prime day deals yet? We hope not, as we've got another for you -- and it's one of the best deals around today. If you've been eyeing a new Kindle, Amazon has a fantastic deal on the Kindle (2019) for $75, saving you $35 off the regular price. This is a pretty epic deal, and it's sure to sell out fast, so make sure you don't miss out.

The 10th-generation Amazon Kindle is a great place to start if you're new to owning a Kindle. This version comes in white or black, without ads, and has a built-in front light that's great for undercover reading or those times you don't want to disturb anybody else while you finish off that bestseller. The 167 ppi glare-free display reads like real paper, and you can adjust the text size -- handy if you've lost your reading glasses or have tired eyes from a day spent in front of a screen. The Kindle is thin and lightweight too, so one-handed reading is a breeze, and long battery life means you won't need to add it to your list of "devices I forgot to charge" as the battery lasts for weeks on a single charge.

This is my Galaxy S21 Ultra after a three-foot drop onto concrete
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra laying face-down on a table with puzzle pieces surrounding it.

I have never done an intentional drop test, torture test, or stress test on a piece of technology. I have, on a few unfortunate occasions, done an unintentional drop test of a phone, however. This weekend was one such time, and it happened to be with my brand-new Galaxy S21 Ultra, which I've had for less than two weeks. Ouch.

Trust me when I say it's cold in Vermont in January. On Sunday, it was about 15 degrees Fahrenheit, with strong winds contributing to a sub-zero feel. I was bundled up in two jackets and gloves, and with those layers, it's tough to know exactly where your phone is at any given time.

samsung galaxy buds prime day deal lowest ever price 2020 deals

With the arrival of Prime Day, there's no better time to pick up fantastic bargains on electronics with a selection of Prime Day deals including those on smaller items such as Prime Day headphone deals. One of the most popular categories in headphones in recent years has been true wireless earbuds, and now you can get in on the action with a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds, which are now their lowest price ever at just $89, down from $130.

If you haven't tried true wireless earbuds before, you're in for a treat. Having no wires around your neck means you're free to move in any way while wearing the buds and you won't get tangled up in them. So they're popular for exercising and running, but also for commuters and those looking for small, slim headphones that take up hardly any space in a bag. The Samsung Galaxy Buds were some of the earlier devices to debut in the category and they've made a name for themselves, going toe to toe with Apple's AirPods.
