We’ve reached the portion of the year that usually sees a Madden-related announcement from EA Sports, and sure enough, the publisher has confirmed that Madden NFL 15 arrives in stores on August 26 in North America and on August 29 in the EU. The latest entry in the 26-year-old series will be coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

There’s not much to say about the actual game that EA Tiburon put together for this year’s release. EA’s announcement mentions “an entirely new broadcast presentation” that includes additional camera angles and “dynamic” pre-game and halftime shows. It looks like we’ll have to wait for June — the month of E3 — to hear about the gameplay, as a newly released teaser featuring Carolina Panthers linebacker and Defensive Player of the Year Luke Kuechly notes.

Before that, however, players will have a chance to steer the latest franchise entry’s cover athlete. EA Sports is once again partnered with ESPN on the annual Madden cover vote, with a special announcement coming on May 8 — the day the annual NFL Draft kicks off — at 8pm ET, via ESPN and the NFL Network.

Last year, EA Sports celebrated the franchise’s silver anniversary with Madden NFL 25. A relatively strong entry in the franchise, Madden 25 was the first to use EA’s new Ignite engine on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases. The next-gen entries proved to be smarter, and we’re excited to see how the EA Tiburon studio builds on its 2013 successes.

Josh Allen throwing a pass in Madden 23.

If you’re one of those Madden players who refuses to waste their time in pay-to-win modes like Ultimate Team, Madden 23’s Face of the Franchise might be the single-player avenue you’re looking for.

While single-player took a back seat to MUT in recent years, Face of the Franchise offers a more personal way to play Madden 23. And though it doesn’t come without issues and glitches, Madden players can kick back and relax in this less-stressful NFL experience.

How to read and beat coverages in Madden 23
Joe Burrow looks out at the defense in Madden 23.

If you want to play like Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers, you have to learn how to read and beat coverages in Madden 23. Long-time players should have a solid grasp on defensive formations already. Still, a few nuanced differences in this year’s game, especially with the new passing mechanics, warrant a refresher.

What’s the difference between Cover 2 and Cover 3? How can you tell when your opponent is in man or zone defense? What happens when they disguise the play, and how can you make quick post-snap reads? Madden players and pop-warner QBs have been asking these questions for years, so let’s dive into how to read coverages in Madden 23 and how to beat each one.

The best teams in Madden 23
Joe Burrow gets tackled by Chargers players in Madden NFL 23.

Madden 23, and the NFL in general, is the most competitive it’s been in a long time. Neither conference has a clear front-runner, and most divisions are evenly matched. That said, there are still some teams that are clearly better equipped than others. For example, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should mop the floor with the New York Jets 10 times out of 10.

With most teams in Madden 23 hovering in the mid-to-high 80s, deciding which are best can be tricky. Some players take the edge over others. Some units are built to run, whereas others are made to pass. Players have several playstyle options to choose between pocket passers, scrambling QBs, bruising RBs, and hard-hitting defenders. So, in our opinion, here are the best teams in Madden 23.
