Klipsch, Scosche Ready Specialized iPod Shuffle Headphones

Klipsch, Scosche Ready Specialized iPod Shuffle Headphones

The recently announced new iPod Shuffle may be one of the sleekest from Apple yet, but without built-in controls, it’s also limited to Apple’s own headphones with controls on the cord. Or was limited. As a testament to Apple’s swelling aftermarket support, third-party earphones for the device are already in the works.

Both Klipsch and Scosche announced on Thursday that they had Shuffle-centered earphones in production.

Scosche has branded its three new models with the tag “IDR” for Increased Dynamic Range. The IDR350M, IDR450M and IDR650M will all isolate outside noise and allow users to “play, pause, adjust volume, skip tracks, navigate playlists and hear the name of the song and artist with the press of a button.” They will have a built-in mic for making voice notes, as well. Scosche will release the line in the spring with prices between $50 and $100.

Klipsch’s brief press release mentioned only that its upcoming headphones would offer all the same controls as the Apple pair, and be available this summer for $100.

And even though I’ve been diving into the world of Android phones, my primary device is still an iPhone 14 Pro. I also always have my AirPods Pro 2 with me, whether that’s at home or when I’m out at Disney parks — they're always on me in some way or another.

But as much as I like Apple, there are certainly some things that will make me scratch my head and go “Huh?” The latest one is what appears to be a new patent held by Apple that could lead to an AirPods case with an integrated interactive touchscreen.
The patent does what now?
