NEC Sharpens Up With 24-Inch Pro LCD Displays

For everyday computer use, the overall quality of a flat-screen display usually doesn’t make much difference, aside from whether it’s bright enough to see and offers enough contrast to read or make out an image. But for graphics professionals, color accuracy and calibration are of crucial importance to their work, and electronics giant NEC has announced two new 24-inch LCD monitors&dash;the LCD2490WUXi and LCD2490W2-BK-SV—specially designed with their needs in mind.

“These new widescreen displays increase our customers’ productivity levels by presenting them with features created to ease their workload and improve their color performance, which makes their job less time-consuming and provides a more enjoyable experience,” said NEC Display Solutions product manager Stan Swiderski, in a statement.

Both displays sport a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, native 1,900 by 1,200-pixel resolutions, 320cd/m&exp2; of brightness, and color gamuts that cover 96.7 percent of the sRGB color space. The displays also sport ColorComp technology to compensate for variations in luminance and uniformity, an ambient light sense for automatic backlight adjustment, and support for 12-it LUTs (look-up tables) to assist with calibration. Each display is backed by a four-year warranty; the LCD2490W2-BK-SV ships with NEC’s SpectraViewII Color Calibration Solution, including software and a colorimeter for setting up accurate color.

The new displays should be available this month, with the LCD2490WUXi carrying a suggested retail price of $1,099 and LCD2490W2-BK-SV having a suggested price of $1,299.

How to set an ‘Out of Office’ message in Microsoft Teams

Many people use Microsoft Teams regularly to communicate with colleagues both inside of the office and remotely. It is considered one of the most efficient ways to ensure you can stay in contact with the people on your team, but what if you need to let people know you’re not readily available? Microsoft Teams has a method for you to set up an "Out of Office" status for your profile to let staff members know when you’ll be gone for the afternoon, for several days on vacation, or for an extended period.
Where do I go to set up my ‘Out of Office’ status for Teams?
It is important to note that your Microsoft Teams and Outlook calendars are synced. This includes your out-of-office status and automatic replies. So, whatever you set up in Microsoft Teams will reflect in Outlook. Similarly, you can set up your out-of-office status in Outlook, and it will be reflected in Teams; however, the former has a more straightforward instruction.

First, you can click on your profile icon in Teams and go directly to Schedule an out of office, as a shortcut. This will take you to the settings area where you can proceed. You can also click the three-dot icon next to your profile icon, then go to Settings > General, then scroll down to the bottom of the page. There, you'll find out-of-office settings and click Schedule.
