MSI Debuts Five New C-Series Notebooks

Computer maker MSI has introduced five new notebook computer models in its C-series, and while the computers may not sport eye-catching outlandish designs or best-of-class horsepower, they do offer 16- and 17-inch displays, a decent selection of specs, and price tags that ought to appeal to both business users and everyday consumers.

The new models are the 16-inch CX600, CR600-013, CR600-017, and the 17-inch CX700 and CR700; the 16-inch models offer a 1,366 by 768-pixel display weigh just 5.4 pounds, and are just over an inch thick, while the 17-inchers sport 1,600 by 900-pixel displays and weigh just under 6 pounds. The CX600 and CX700 are powered by ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 graphics, while the 16-inch CR600-013 and 17-inch CR600-017 and CR700 sport Nvidia GeForce 8200M G graphics with HDMI output—the 16-inch CR600-017 also sports an Blu-ray drive for high-def movies. The Blu-ray equipped CD600-017 carries a 2.1 GHz Pentium Dual Core CPU, while the other four models all pack a 2 GHz version of the same chip.

All five machines ship with 4 GB of RAM, a 320 GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n Wi-FI wireless networking, gigabit Ethernet, a 1.3 megapixel Webcam, a 4-in-1 media card reader, and three USB 2.0 ports.

Pricing on the C series starts at $549.99; the systems all ship with Windows Vista Home Premium.
